Welcome: Mohamed Elneny

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Well he hopes to win the treble this season. He's either ambitious or insane (maybe both) :barscarf:

I like everything i've read about this guy so far. I don't care if he's not been signed from / played for one of Europe's top clubs before. The short termism around here at times

Covered more ground than any other player in the Cl last season up until the point Basel were competing in it. Hopefully an excellent, fitter, stronger and more reliable replacement than Flamini/Arteta/Rosicky, all of whom I guess are moving on in the same summer. Also opens up a realistic squad spot for Zelalem next season if he does enough with Rangers.

Ramsey, Coquelin, Elneny, Zelalem: a good mix of skills there with a lot of youth and energy. Not counting Wilshere for obvious reasons.

Short termism? Jesus Christ. We've been crying out for a proper DM instead of Flamteta for years ffs.

Must be the same as the "knee jerk reactions" we have after every humiliation. "Its only one game, you cant judge him on this one performance"

Is Elneny actually his name or is it a nickname? It means 'the Lad' in Spanish.

Some fans really need to work out if we are a development club or a genuine big club with ambition - when you have a strong first 11 then you can concentrate on building up your squad back ups. If this guy is bought to be eased in with the expectation of being a key player in the next 12-18 months then that is fine by me - however the league is there to be won NOW and if he is the only central midfielder we buy then we will be selling ourselves short in my opinion. You might refer to that as short termism but the league wont wait for us until he is ready and an ambitious club wants to win now AND tomorrow and will do everything possible to make it happen when the chance is there

Erm. What I meant by "short termism"....fairly evidently...is how he's written off by morons straight away just because they haven't heard of him before. The idiocy of this doesn't need further comment.
