Arsene's obsession

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

even i'm bored with listening to you now. some of us really need to get back to work. but like i said ask your lass to cut down on the E numbers she gives you, you'll be bouncing off the walls soon and asking for fire man sam to be on the TV until bedtime.

Evra and vidic i'll give tyou them.

but i am insulted that you try to argue Rooney - he was the hottest property in world football. again you must try so much harder.

it could be argued that rooney cost us nothing as we got 25m for beckham and he cost us nothing?
Great! I suppose I could argue that my house cost me nothing because I bought it with money that was given to me simply for going to work! Knob

FUCKING HILARIOUS......... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: You're a legend SPUDMASHER

Unfortunately I can't take credit for that. I saw it a long time ago when Panto last used that same argument. I thought I would give him the same response. :oops:

what a ridicluos analogy..it cost you years of labour and the mortgage payments..

wereas rooney cost us 25m.. and we sold beckham for 25m.. beckham cost NOTHING to buy him from elswhere....

a more appropirate analogy would be that your aunt died and left you your :wink: house and your sold it for 1m and went and bought another for 1m with no mortgage ..thereofre costing you nothing

Okay then. How much money did your club part with to get Rooney?
£25m? (although I think it was a bit more than that but could be wrong)

Therefore, no matter how you try to manipulate the facts, Rooney cost you £25m. End of. No argument!

On another entirely seperate occasion you sold another player for a similar amount.

You have eluded previously that you are not a financial person, I am!
There is a small aspect of business called net profit that is extremely important to any business. This is what generates cash flow, the single most important thing to any business and is calculated thus:-

Sales - cost of sales = profit

So, £25m - £25m = £fuck all. Good business? Hardly!

Oh jesus christ you are grasping at straws now!

Out of that list of names two thirds had a significant impact at Arsenal! Yes there was failures such as Stepanov's and Wright! Others were kids with potential that never quite made the extremely high standards set at Arsenal such as Grondin and Malz. Maybe similar to your once own Ronnie Wallwork and David Johnson, not to mention Johnathan Greening or old good looking Luke Chadwick!

Others such as Grimandi, Garde and Vivas were more than useful players who never set the world on fire ala Darren Fletcher or maybe John O Shea!

On the subject of comings and goings of players and any relusting profit or loss do I have to point these out to you?

Nicholas Anelka....the sale of which bought Thierry Henry to the club while still recording roughly a £10 million profit for Arsenal. We then had the best years of the best striker in the world and then sold him at a profit again! Not bad business hey!

Patrick Viera.....I think we payed say £4 million for him, let him dominate the midfield for how many years and then sold him past his peak for a huge profit!

I won't go into the cases of Toure, Fabregas, Eboue, Flamini. Clichy, Diaby, etc etc etc and where they came from, where they are now and their respective market values. Even your blinkered vision cannot deny that surely!

On the subject of stadia to argue that Ashburton Grove is inferior to Old Trafford is laughable. Look from the air and ask any neutral what is the best looking ground, Ashburton or Old Trafford and I can guarantee what the result will be! Ashburton Grove is a purpose built stadium which is as comfortable as it is pleasing on the eye! Old Trafford is a mish mash of add ons and after thoughts which can hardly be described as a site of arctictural beauty! Sure it may well be bigger but the Maracana is bigger than Old Trafford and thats a complete shit hole so that is not a valid arguement!

I am sure you even realised your mistake as soon as you tried to mock the atmosphere at Arsenal! Never has been the nosiest true but I never recall insiders of the club mentioning the words "prawn sandwich" and "funeral"!

Haha Gods own city! What the fuck was he doing when he built Salford....taking a shit?

Now for what I find to be the most comical of your points....Arsenal sold their history! We never sold our history at all....we took all that was significant with us! The clock, the marble halls, Chapman's bust etc etc all came across despite huge cost and painstaking problems caused by this. Should we have stayed at Highbury just because that had been our ground for many a year even though it was financially unviable? Don't be stupid! We moved with the times and took what we wanted to keep with us! These sort of comments about selling out your history are wonderfully laughable coming from Manchester united who have sold themselves out time and again! Sure we our board may frustrate us but not once has a potless wanker runout on the pitch juggling a ball masquerading as the new owner and messiah! Oh and surely I don't have to remind you who owns your history now do I?

Anyhow how is the weather in Guildford today Pancho?

if you are in finance remind me to avoid your advice....

its simple..its like a swap..if bekham costs us nothong ..then there is no cost..if we sold him for 25m then that 25m profit..is it not..no cost +25m= 25m profit..

rooney cost us 25m ..we use the PROFIT we got from selling beckham who cost us NOTHING ..therefore our net expeidture was ZERO.....

salas 25m -cost of sale (zero) = 25m PROFIT

net profit doesnt constitute csh flow..

Ok, dummy. One last time. The vast majority of those players cost next to nothing (comparitively speaking). Also (please try to keep up here) we, like all PL clubs operate a SQUAD system - not every player will make it as a first team regular. So the likes of Inamoto, Diawara, Malz, Grondin, Suker all cost little and served the club well at reserve level. We have no problem with that.

You should probably spend a little more time on wikkipedia though before you embarrass yourself on here again;

I don't have time for the full list (or to spend half my day on wikki) etc but from memory;

Wreh - Double winner 1998.
Richard Wright - Double winner 2002.
Grimandi - won two Doubles 1998 & 2002.
Garde - Double winner 1998.
Cygan - UNBEATEN League winner 2004.
Most embarrassing of all for you :oops: ;
Kanu - Double winner 2002, FA Cup winner 2003 & UNBEATEN League winner 2004.

Now I think anyone with even half a functioning brain cell will admit that's not a bad return on our investment (maybe you could borrow that half a brain cell from your wife/sister) Further to this, the last time you posted that pointless list I posted this list of your donkeys (homegrown and bought);

Rossi, Forlan, Howard, Barthez, Johnsen, Phil Neville, Carrick, Bellion, Blanc, Bosnich, Carroll, Chadwick, Jordi (I refuse to call him Cruyff), Spector, Djordjic, Darren Ferguson, Goram, Greening, Taibi, Miller, Poborsky, Sealey, Veron, Anderson, Djemba-Djemba (Utd being so “classyâ€

make you mind up salford or guildfor ..your soccer am meter is twitching ..for the record I work in the Quays , but live in didsbury...

now onto to the crux of you post

I will summarise...the players you mentioned ..chadwick, wallwork, etc..cost us NOTHING ..therofre when we sold them they made a profit and wnet towwards the cost of other players...

the point about history is quite ironic...Old trafford has always been old trafford..its never been called the burger king bowl etc.. so ask yourslef who has sold out?...

if you compare your stadium to that of stoke/bolton / boro etc..apart form size..there isnt much in it.....a soulless place..OT carries the weight of tradition and history ..the EMIRATES carries the weight of corporate jollies.
