I see the self-loathing Arsenal fans are out in force again.

Look, no one is denying we are up against it. But we have played Barcelona twice at home, drawing one and winning. We have also showed a capacity to beat Bayern Munich in recent seasons. So given we are at home, based on the evidence, a win or score draw is a possibility, although a loss is a probability.

But again, I just dont understand the over the top reaction. The way some go on, you would think we are playing with a ball and chain tied to every players leg.

As for the Bellerin hating. I just dont know where to begin, especially the suggestion Debuchy was a better right back. This isnt the 1990's where a flat back four is the way of the will. So what if Bellerin gets forward? He gets forward and uses his pace to get back. One of the best players at the club

There is rationale criticism, and then there is self-loathing. FFS, even Tottenham fans are a happy bunch. We are in danger of becoming the most miserable fans in the league.

we are unhappy because we already know the outcome,we are unhappy because 10 years after leaving highbury to compete with the worlds best we are now even further behind, shall I carry on?its not about self loathing its about being fed up with 10 years of ground hog day, next season will be the same ,rinse and repeat until Wenker leaves unless of course you know different?

For the last few months we've been sleepwalking through games. There's times I've looked on in horror at yet another drab, abject, passionless disinterested performance and thought to myself - do this lot even realise they're in a fucking title race here? Crazy stuff.

And do you know what's going to frustrate the fuck out of me tomorrow evening (easy now)? I can 1000000% guarantee that from the first whistle to the last you're going to see passion, drive and hunger from us not witnessed since probably the United home game when we flew out of the traps and destroyed them.

So everyone is going to give it their all and burst their bollocks for 90 minutes in a competition we have fuck all chance of winning yet rock up to most league games like they've just woken up after a lobotomy, sedated out of their fucking minds, in a competition that's just asking to be won.

Can anyone explain that warped logic to me please??

I think you will find that people believe that debouchy is a better DEFENDER and not necessarily a better player, and I would be one of those I have to say 8) You have got to be aware of context and team balance, and for that reason debouchy might be a better fit - we dont play with wingers that are willing to track back and give the full backs a dig out (thanks to mr clueless and his "lets give the players total freedom  ), and that sometimes leaves the pedestrian BFG and th defensively rash gabriel badly exposed and that aint good. I get that the modern day game requires full backs to be attackers, but imo that doesnt suit the needs of our team sometimes, so on occasions debouchy would be a better fit imo

Of course Tottenham are happy, they're probably dizzy..... We on the other hand look absolutely awful. We cannot even beat a weakened Hull side at home. We look absolutely terrible & I suspect most lifelong fans are waiting, expecting actually, for the wheels to come off completely before our 5/6 game unbeaten run that will nail down 4th place. The worse thing about this is that I fear Wenger's focus on this losing cause is going to result in us losing to Hull as well.

As for us, we look absolutely dreadful and I fear that Wengers fixation with a competition he will NEVER win is going to see us going out of the one we can. Then we'll be out of both the CL & FA cup with a Nou camp thrashing that will inevietably cost us the league as well. It's not self loathing, it's the reality before us.

Of course we could beat Barcelona at home but in the tie overall the evidence is against us.

As it is with comparable clubs such as Bayern.

I agree with Rodders. It is inexplicable that we have a league title just begging to be snatched and in this very poor league we have the players to do just that. Instead we have been coasting indifferently through the last 3 months as though we don't want it. But we'll bust a gut tomorrow night and at the Nou camp in a hopeless cause that will end once again in glorious failure (or much worse??). These 2 all out efforts will affect both our FA cup & league chances(leetle bit jaded). We can see it, all of us, because it's a re run...... I reckon come middle/end March we will be done on all fronts. Then our little meaningless unbeaten run will start. Oh and Wenger will sign another contract, probably an indefinite one. (He'll leave when he wants, after all he's earned it)

all in all, i hate watching us play. going to united away next week just to get fucked out of my face and meet up with some old mates
The only game we have played well in was United at home, and we couldn't sustain that for the 90. We've scraped a win so many times. It just shows how weak the league is this season that we are still in contention.
Yep. We are currently on course for 70-75 points. This is lower than what we've averaged over the post-fibreglass era, and less than 2 points a game. The only reason we may end up winning the league this year is because of the weakness of everyone else.

Knowing our inconsistent team, I wouldn't be surprised if we nicked a draw in one of these games, but it will be too little too late, as usual, because we will get our collective arseholes smashed in prison-rape stylee in at least one of these games. And you can take that to the bank. :|

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't we beat Bayern 2-0 at home and then get stuffed 5-1 away?

Certain individuals are talking about pessimism but as far as i'm concerned Barca are even better than Bayern so much as i want to be optimistic and i can see us getting some sort of positive result at home i'm also not unreasonably expecting us to get destroyed in the Nou Camp.

I also just made the mistake of looking at their league and CL stats compared to us and i need to go for therapy... :banghead:

The only thing we'll take from the 2 legs is jadedness which will be the excuse for the FA cup exit & league capitulation. In fact a damn good thrashing might just enable him to roll out the "psychological damage" excuse.

I doubt Debuchy was the best right back in his own house. Paceless, gormless......a complete and utter waste of money and can't remember him having one good game for us
