The seasons gone mate, there will be no "salvaging". A titanic battle for 4th begins after next weekend. Somehow, maybe because he's so incredibly vain and it's HIS record at stake, and his finances of course, he can always get these useless, lazy no hopers to prevail and come through for that most special of "trophy's". I hope we finish out of the top 4. If I really got my wish I would like to finish in 7th, miss out on that Europa crap as well.

I really don't know anymore. All I do think is that Wenger won't be here next season now.

This collapse is way different to seasons gone by.
We have never struggled like this at home for years and years.
Next 4 games
Barcelona - lose
Everton - lose
Watford - draw if I am being optimistic
West Ham - lose

Can he really survive another month of defeats?
The problem is that for most of us we see losses and shit performances as further proof Wenger should be gone, but for a large section of our fan-base, everything is based on any positive result we get. We have been awful since January, but beating championship Hull was enough to see fans, and even some of the media praise Wenger. We could fail to win between now until already relegated Villa on the last day, and a win there would be enough to see fans defending Wenger and saying he deserves another year. I dislike Silent Stan for obvious reasons, but with the way some of our fans act, what reason would Stan feel to get rid of Wenger.
Failure to qualify for CL, that's a financial hit. That's the kind of thing Stan won't tolerate. I hope we don't get in, why do we need to be in, we aren't competitive in it and only the shareholders benefit from the income. A year away will do us the world of good, it might even be the final nail in Tof's coffin.
Your forgetting that even if we don't make the top 4, then Stan still wouldn't sack Wenger, as he would trust him to get us back there more than he would of getting in a new manager. Currently he has a manager who is in bed with the board, and achieves the board's aim while usually spending fuck all. If a new manager came in, he is going to want to use the huge transfer kitty we have, and wont be spending every season aiming to balance the books, and even if the new manager did act like Wenger, then why get a Wenger replica when you can keep the man himself. As much as I hate it, its going to be Wenger who decides when he leaves, no one else.

100% with you on this sid - IF we are to lose then I want us to get absolutely raped by barca instead of this heroic effort in a draw/narrow defeat/win on the night result bullshit that will deflect the criticism off wenker and the players for a few days  Obviously we would all prefer to win, but given that it is highly unlikely, I feel that a thrashing would be more beneficial to the club in the long run

Btw I do agree with granadajoe when he says that it wont be a thrashing - barca will play at half pace confident that they will progress and have bigger more important games to conserve their energy for

If this turns out to be a hammering like the 6-0 at Stamford bridge or the 8-2 at OT or the 5-1 at Anfield, even though this is the best team on the planet (copyright every sky pundit), then I think this will hit Wenger harder then any of the previous beatings, because it is in Europe, and in a competition he has qualified for consecutively more often than any other team, apart from Real Madrid. Yes, even the great Barcelona haven't got to the knockout stage for 16 consecutive seasons.

We have never conceded any less than 3 goals at the Nou Camp. So 3 is the bare minimum I expect us to concede. But a modest estimation would be 4 or 5. Although if Barcelona really turn it on and show no mercy, then 6-7-8 goals could easily fly past Ospina.

To get results at Barcelona, you need mettle, resilience, concentration, whilst being astute tactically. Sadly, we lack all four qualities.

Im pretty sure thay wont Augie  , the Spanish league isnt as punishing as the PL, not as much need to energy conserve, besides - cant see The Cannibal playing nicey nicey, hes always 100% and more, nor Messi eager to improve his goal record in the EC or Neymar eager to please the fans.

We are going to loose BIG but expect one goal scored so the AKBs will say we made a comeback

The Whores will stay in a comfortable 2nd gear and easily win 2-1 and Wenger will talk about mental strength and character and nearly bouncing back from the Watford defeat and us being only 2 or 3% off. Another "plucky brave" defeat.

Meaningless game. :tumbleweed:

a 5-0 win for Barcelona will be our heaviest ever defeat on the European stage (0-4 and 1-5 previously)

I (unfortunately?) dont see us getting truly hammered. It hasnt been in the air this season. 3-0 something might be the case. Anyway it wouldnt change anything if they beat us 10-0, there seems to be an attitude at the club that its ok to lose in any terrible way to the Bitches of Barca. Wenger can talk his way out of mortality.

Let's face reality here. We could face a situation in which we are 5-0 down at half time so the full time result is something that won't be pretty viewing.

The problem is, we could lose by any huge score and it wouldn't make a difference.

Honestly don't see them giving us a hiding. They don't need to. They can stay comfortably in 2nd gear (knowing they can up it a gear if need be) and not risk picking up silly injuries being inflicted by Coquelin or Gabriel going in 2 feet over the ball in some lame attempt to show "passion".

1-2 to The Whores. Or maybe 0-2 to the Whores. Who cares?

Meaningless game. :tumbleweed:
