Are prisons now so cushy that career criminals think nothing of committing crime - I say no because career criminals have never really thought twice about prison.

Sorry Cus but the increasing anti Semitism mentioned by the Board of Deputies is in what way coupled with as you call it " attempts to stifle valid criticism of Israel"?
One thing is connected to the other in that some people disliking their own interpretation of what goes on in Israel, link it to attacking Jews in England, but the rising incidents of anti Semitism here are real, not made up figures.
It has become trendy to go on anti Israel marches and sign petitions amongst the middle class and students, in the way it was awith anti Apartheid move sin the 1980's, and this spills over into ani-semitism..I know, I get it from people, and it is crazy because hardly any of these people have been to Israel and some I have met are so ignorant they have not even heard of the 1948 and 1967 wars! They just latch onto a situation that is woefully reported by the BBC who despite years of expertise in journalism simply fail to understand many Israeli points of view.
You say most Arsenal fans at games are middle class Home Counties people, but I would love to know where those figures are from. Because I see a majority of London working class fans, all be it with a higher middle class fanbase than you might get at a Bolton or Rochdale etc. Our middle class support is higher than in the 1980's as a percentage of fans at games,, based on just my observations, but we have had a largish middle class support anyway since the 1930's, plenty sat in upper tiers of East and West Stand at Highbury.
To be honest though I have no clear definition of "class" in my head these days, what with trades salaries being higher than many office jobs,and Labour moving to the right of the Liberal Democrats.

Extreme racism is bad.
But do you know what really spoils the world?
People who believe their opinion on what should be deemed offensive or mere banter is so important that the majority should immediately fall into the line they think is best.
Please, whinging over petty issues have plagued the forum long enough. Do we need a new thread for every time anyone feels even mildly put off by something???
