Given all the trouble surrounding the flag issue earlier in the season, I'd imagine it's pretty safe to say God Save The Queen will not become the new Arsenal anthem. Even if it was played out over the speakers, there are enough other nationalities at the ground that won't sing up (I know I wouldn't).

Im all for "impossible dream" the lyrics are quality and its slow enough for loads of people to belt it out with out it sounding like a complete mess but not so slow that it drags on.

That is pure classs can see that working. This seems to be popular on the other sites i've posted on another is "you are my Arsenal" in which they said when sung by lots of people sounds class. keep em coming

The bits in bold are my favourite parts of the song those bits are class the bit that if made anthem will be sung loud and proud.

Impossible dream easily, would love that song and it is old so the older generation like myself would love it. Fergie said once if United fans had a song like YNWA then he would like the Impossible Dream.

Shortened down version with a an Arsenal theme through it (someone said it is too slow but obviously we would speed it up to something more efficient, YNWA is always sped up when the song is stopped towards the final chorus) p.s. the blue bits are where I changed it to an Arsenal theme, however I made sure the syllables still fitted in:

Great to see so much support for 'The Impossible Dream'.

I suggested that song on page 2, but thought nobody would agree, but a lot of you seem to like this choice of song. I think it would be magnificent hearing this song being belted out at the grove. Let's all make it happen.

well 'impossible dream' does look like a real favourite, so i'd say that is definitely going to make the shortlist. the plan now is to keep this thread going until the end of the season on 13th may and in the meantime, whittle down all of the suggestions into maybe 5 realistic possibles, based on popularity and suitability. and we can really thrash those two factors out here. every suggestion has pros and cons depending on who is forming an opinion. at the end of the season when things are going a bit quiet, we'll then have a vote on the onlinegooner referendum section which we'll publicise in a big way and try and get other sites to link to it. once we have a winner, in conjunction with redaction, we'll approach the club with the proposal to give the thing a try over a period of months. playing the record before the teams come out so that it reaches a crescendo just as the teams come out. it's about building atmosphere, passion and a special feeling. we've seen it on occasion at other grounds before kick off, so let's have it at arsenal. we can do this if enough people are interested. the bottom line though is that the club have to be on board. if they are as receptive to the fans as they claim it should be no problem. keep the suggestions coming in, and debating the choices put forward.

i confess i'm no a great fan of 'impossible dream' (doesn't seem to have a natural rhythm to my tone deaf ears!) but i'm happy to give it my all if that's the one that ends up being chosen.
