Deadline day Arshavin saga

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

this is where sky sports got the quote from Arshavin

arshavin.eu: Andrey, "Arsenal"?
А.А.: I Think, yes. Negotiations approach to end, a detail tomorrow. Now I can tell only one - if I shall play "Arsenal", at number 23.

How appropriate, the longest thread in the forum’s history on the topic of the longest fucking attempt to sign a player in the history of the game!!!!!!!!!

The longer this drags on the more doubtful I am of it's completion....... it's getting SO tedious now!

The FA’s Director of Communications, Adrian Bevington, has spoken to the Russian media about the Andrei Arshavin deal:

“Yes, it’s true, the transfer is in doubt. There is a chance it will take us 2-3 days. The odds are 50/50. If the transfer is declared invalid, Arshavin will be returned to Zenit. We can’t rule this out. I don’t think that would be a severe ruling: both clubs had a lot of time to complete it during the window.”

yes this transfer must be one of the mos protracted ever, but heres a thought, I know arsenal have been trying to get arshavin as cheap as possible and good luck to them, but how does all this penny pinching affect the player? He is probably thinking he has gone to the ****, arsenal are not sending him the right message, for a couple of extra million we could have had him a lot earlier, he would already be prettty match fit and he would be very happy that arsenal paid good money to get him. All in all this would make him feel like a world beater and after all football is a confidence thing.

Now after quibbling over the what seems to be a small percentage of the asking price he might be thinking do they want me or not? how good do they think i am?

Could be wrong but footballers have huge egos and they need massaging

Why can't the club make a statement to let us all get on with our days and stop pressing F5 on Arsenal.com.

What this club is doing to its fans is absolutley ridicoulous! We have been waiting since 5pm yesterday for confirmation if we have signed this bloody arshavin or not! Im personally beggining to wonder if this guy actually exists!! Its absolutley disgusting that not one of the club 'senior figures' could come out and say something! We have heard news from all over the bloody world, but we dont know whats true and whats not untill the club desides to let us, the people that pay over 1200 quid a year for a season ticket, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! have we signed this bloody player or not? so we can all get on with our bloody lives!

just emailed this to the club... not that it will get anywhere!
