Youre right about all the players above but that doesnt mean youre automatically right about Tevez. Its all about opinions and i wouldnt want Tevez at my club like it or not. Also can you reply to JD's post at the bottom of page 40 Baba?Babatunde wrote:Did I just hear this right? Is the consensus on here that you would not sign Tevez??
I know he's a tool and all but, let's look at it objectively. Mercenary?
Ok.
How long has Manuel Almunia sat back and drained AFC of wages, knowing he will never ever play?
How about Djourou extending his contract?
How about Denilson?
How about Bendtner showing off how much he makes by putting 52 on his kit?
How about Flapianski, draining the club of funds despite never playing?
How about Diaby?
How about Chamakh, who has made it clear he has no intention of relinquishing his £60k a week, despite never playing?
Did Wenger not go ahead and sign Gallas anyway, despite the fact he threatened to score an own goal at Chelski? Did you not all cheer him on?
Oh but Tevez is a "mercenary". Difference being, he's one who actually wins stuff, and is a quality player.
I'd rather have "loyal" players like Chamakh instead, happy to pick up their wages.
Oh and by the by, I see no one here has an issue with Podolski picking up that fat signing on fee despite his shocking behaviour towards his manager Solbakkenat Cologne. Still.
Wouldn't wanna let facts get in the way of morality etc etc..
McDowell its over dude...no more - Hallelujah

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
Again its all about opinions Babatunde, why do other peoples opinions grate on you so much? Terms like world class or legend are banded around far too easy these days but that sums up modern society rather than Arsenal fans in generalBabatunde wrote:Also. Please.
Could somebody. Anybody. Please explain to me how Lukas Podolski is "World Class" please?
I'm genuinely curious to hear. Cannot remember the last works class striker I saw playing for a relegated team??
Is this the same criteria that makes Mertesacker a top quality defender because of his caps?
How many Champions League goals and appearances does "world class" Podolski have please?
Seriously. I repeat, some are starting to sound like Liverpool fans with the hype.
I also suppose that Mirislav Klose is also "world class" then eh?
Tell you what I'll send 100 top managers a survey of who they'd include in a world 11 and see how many pick Podolski. If
even one does, I'll buy you any car you choose.
I repeat: good player.
World class?
Dear Lord the modern Arsenal fan..
Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
Aaaah yes. It is so unlike honourable Arsene to lie about where we will strengthen hmmm?rigsby wrote:Also why would anyone sign Carlos Tevez? As Gary Neville pointed out last week, the guy is only at City because nobody went after him when he was dangling there. He's a bloody mercenary, not one I want at Arsenal.
As for Drogba, whilst I'm a big fan of him as a player, are you seriously suggesting you would have wanted him instead of Podolski? The ages of the two make my mind up on this issue.
M
I don't think Podolski is there to replace RVP. And even if he was, I would highly doubt that Wenger would not add another striker. He's made it clear that we relied too heavily on one player for goals this year. Not saying Robin wont go (I don't think he will btw) but I don't think we'ld get one in one out.
Like when he claimed he'd sign a defender when Vermaelen was out?
Super quality up front to play with RVP?
Or that top class number 10 he promised last summer pre- renewals?
Amazing how he gets you EVERY TIME!

Hey Flash. I see your point but I'd take Tevez in. Heartbeat. He's no different to the Arsenal mercenaries I just named- only difference being that Tevez is good enough to whore himself about.flash gunner wrote:Youre right about all the players above but that doesnt mean youre automatically right about Tevez. You imagine Chamakh and Almunia having third party ownership?
LOL
Also sorry but I automatically skip JD posts as a reflex so didn't read what he wrote (nor do I have the inclination)
I can guess its more Wengerite poetry though am I right?

I think Tevez is a mercenary but an odius, devious, dislikable mercenary as opposed to our own mercenarys who dont seem unduely unhappy to take the cash but dont seem to disrupt the team harmony however shit they are and little they play. Personally i wouldnt take either of these types of mercenary *word censored*

My little tuppence for what it is worth that I do believe that david villa is absolutely obtainable from barca if a big club wanted him. Prior to his injury he had become marginalised at barca amid rumours of a falling out with messi and he was becoming increasingly frustrated at life on the barca bench. Whether his outlook will change now under a new manager remains to be seen but that was how things stood before world club championship

Straight from the horses mouth...
Arsene Wenger today poured cold water on reports the club were poised to sign France midfielder Yann M'Vila in a big-money move from Rennes.
Arsenal have already secured the £10million signing of Germany striker Lukas Podolski from Cologne, but the Gunners boss said he is not looking to strengthen further.
"It is not true," the Gunners boss said. "There is not any interest at the moment.
"We have not been in touch with anybody, we have not made any offer to anybody and we are nowhere near to buying anybody at the moment.

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
As predicted IHH! Now all that's missing is the £30 mil RVP sale to Citeh, £20 mil profits!
I eagerly await the AKBs who'll come out and say "Arsene ain't gonna come out and reveal he's after players as it will alert other clubs".
LOL
Funny how Fergie and Pardew both came out and said they'd definitely strengthen! I suppose rules are different for Wenger eh?
To be fair though, we wouldn't wanna alert other clubs so thru could pip us to the likes of Mertesacker, Santos, Chamakh and Park
RENEW THOSE MEMBERSHIPS AT ADDED COST AND THOSE STs TOO!
REMEMBER WHAT GAZIDIS SAID WE NEED TO CHARGE MORE SO WE CAN COMPETE IN THE TRANSFER MARKET WITH THE BIG BOYS! SAME REASON WE MOVED STADIUMS!
The best signings will be Song new contract, Ches new contract, Djourou new contract and Denilson and Vela return plus DIABY.
You've never had it so good you peasants.
Not have you worked half a day in football.
With this disgusting lack of ambition I actively hope Arsenal make the Europa League. Because the club don't deserve CL. The CL is used to bleed more money out the fans, Newcastle or even Spuds would use the CL to get better calibre players.
Disgrace.

Re: McDowell's VANITY 'Rumours' Thread
Meh he said the same about Podolski when all the rumours were coming out. Wenger hates it being public. Not saying we'll sign him, just don't believe anything Arsenal say on signings good or bad. Its all bollocks. I don't see why anyone puts much stock in anything the media or Wenger says on such issue.
Baba, Tevez is a fantastic player. But are you seriously comparing him to Bendtner? No matter how shit Bendy may be he's never refused to play for a manager, and fucked off for 9 months. Its not the same, all players want big wages, and rightly so if the money is there. You've been specific with Arsenal players but your point can be attributed to most modern footballers.

i don't believe anything he says.
He said we were not close to signing podolski and he signed a few days after.
To be fair its better to be safe than sorry.
We'll have to wait and see, what else can you do? argue on the internet??

i wasn't comparing or criticising, you said Pod wasn't the best available. i gave good reasons why he was, and why we wouldn't want them - unproven, temperament, age, injury etc etc.Babatunde wrote: 1. You try to criticise Higuain. LOL
Nice selective choice of international stats. Look closet though:? How many league goals has Higuain scored, playing for a bigger club, where he competes with two of the best strikers in Europe?
That'd be more than Podolski then. Hush up.
2. Tevez and his attitude? Yeah must be they same attitude that has seen AC Milan bid for him twice, and will see him pick up a second league title. You're talking about the same Tevez who ran the league a year ago. Playing for a club full of class players. Again: silence in the auditorium please. No sane individual would rate Podolski above Tevez. That's why one is valued at £30 mil and is about to win the league, and the other is valued at £10 mil and got relegated.
3. Did you just try and compare David Villa, golden boot in the Euros, to Podolski? LOL
Tell you what lets go further and claim Podolski is better than Ronaldo eh?
and your argument about Higauin actually works against your argument that players are not proven until they are over here.
no offence, but i don't think you understand your own arguments mate, let alone mine.
LOL. i should know better than to argue with idiots, they always try and bring me down to their level.
bearing in mind, this is the guy that thinks 34 yr old Drogba is a better replacement for 28 yr old RvP than 26 yr old Podolski

no i didn't flash.flash gunner wrote:
Did he say Bergamp was signed by Wenger? I thought it read that Bergkamp after his failure at Inter wasnt considered good enough by some at Arsenal he doesnt mention Wenger does he?
i mentioned Bergkamp as an example of failure in a European League, along with TH14.
and you are of course correct that AW did not sign Dennis, but David Dein is quoted as saying that he was recommended both Dennis and Platty by AW. and Rioch is quoted as saying he had no part in the three transfers (i forget who the third was - helder ?)
so AW did not sign him, but he did select him for DD.
