THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I could do with one or two of you good folks coming onto the Guardian site to fight the good fight against some real AKB numpties on there who are one stage short of booking an open top bus.
I set up an account there back in '07 but soon discovered it's not safe to dissent so have long since lapsed. This place is pretty much the ploar opposite mate, welcome.

The worst thing is the intolerance these clowns have for anyone who dares question their beloved Arsene and anything he has ever done. One had to be put in his place this morning.

For the record, I'm pretty happy with a lot of things we have done since the Villa game, but we have an unbalanced squad, and still lack the intensity to play at a furious tempo for 90 minutes. I also question the medical attention a lot of the players have and tactically Wenger is a nightmare, doing his best to blow games like the NLD by removing the threats to the oppositions back 4 and enable full backs to fly at us at will.

I'd have fired Wenger 4 years ago, but we have him and have to live with him. So let us hope he stops seeing 4th place as a prize and attacks first, because there is no team out there that is all that good.
Welcome on board (sic) mate. Tradition states that you now visit the Cannonballs section and start a tit thread. Thank you. 8)

Do one you sanctimonious little arsehole.

I've just racked up up 1000 recently and I may as well have farted into a kettle instead over and over again for all the good it's done

Tomorrow's Sun headline:

Wenger "I quit because of the abuse I get on Online Gooner".

Feck remind me never to accept a cup of rosie off you then mate! :D

You appear to take yourself quite seriously so i'm unsure if you'll fit in here. Besides which, do you really think Monsieur Wanger gives two shits for what some people on an internet forum think about him?
 Does he?? Shit If I'd known that I'd have slagged him off by now!

Even if he'd have been stupid enough to sign one, I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to enforce a clause like that for an unlimited period of time.
Im pretty sure these clauses are signed, I think Bales rumoured to have signed one. Sure its not enforcable for an unlimited time, but rumours of a transfer to Manure 2 years after moving to Barca sure upset me.
Tbf I think if you manage to get a clause in a deal giving you either 50% sell-on or a buy-back clause at a set fee you can't really expect any more than that.

Don't worry OBG, I have that most quaint English trait of deifying tea to such a ludicrous extent that all other nations on Earth scratch their collective heads and chirp "what the fuck is wrong with them, they got China hooked on opium so they could get access to fucking tea?"

Twinings all the way, and I should probably seek medical help now.

Phuncky, do you use that user name. I read the Grauniad but don't go below the line very often. Your user name doesn't ring a bell though.

You are not suggesting that his name on here is an alias and he is just on the wind up are you ? I doubt if there has ever been a weekend where so many new members have posted - seems a bit odd to me :rubchin:

Benefit of the doubt and all that, but you're right lots of newbies around recently. Some with strange views (for this forum anyway). I mean some bloke expects people to be able to spell!

While I am enjoying seeing us at the top of the league it also saddens me.
I can't really see us maintaining a challenge over 38 games (you only have to compare our bench with Citeh or the Chavs to see we're a couple of injuries away from serious problems), but I can't help thinking that if we had signed a Higuain-type player along with Ozil, and despite our continuing issues at CB and out wide, most of us might be starting to be a bit optimistic.
