SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It's hard to feel genuinely sorry for any group of people that earn the money footballers do. Having said that, I do feel sorry for our boys. They really pulled their fingers out towards the end of last season (yes I realise we were out of every competition so there was less pressure) and finished on a good run of form and getting us one foot into Europe.

With the season having been wrapped up on good form they were, just as us fans were, expecting the management and board to properly strengthen the squad. You just need to look at the quotes early on from some of our lads, saying how excited everyone was about the prospect of new signings. So not only has Wenger given the fans the middle finger, but I genuinely feel he's shafted the team as well, which is a real shame.

I don't really know what i want from this transfer window now

I dont consider myself gullible but i actually believed that we would get Cesar and Higuain with possibly Fellani and maybe even Cesc or Rooney thrown in. As everyone of these has been ruled out/not happened my expectations have got lower whilst i have got angrier and angrier.

Everybody knows what positions we need to strengthen and we try to sign cabaye...who plays in the one position we are covered in. We also have Michu (one half decent season) and Williams (shite) being rumored....if we spend £45m+ on these three it is more criminal then not spending at all.

I'm now at the stage where i'm struggling to think of anyone decent that is realistically available and would want to join us and find myself laughing at any rumours linking us to any half decent players (Benzema/Di Maria etc).

This has to go down as one of the biggest cons/fuck ups/ mis managements of all time and someone has to answer for it....starting with Wenger.

I personally think that if we had signed Cesar, Higuain and a DM, with all the management changes in the premier, we could have made a genuine challenge....instead we are already in an injury crisis and will be scrabbling around for fourth spot (if we're lucky).

The one silver lining now for me is that they cant possibly offer Wenger a new contract...can they?

Welcome back, I suppose, to Flamini but is this the extent of our ambition, two free transfers?

Signing Flamini seems an entirely retrograde step...exactly the sort of player we don't want. We had one good season out of him and then he ****ed off and left us.

I suspect he's about three years past his sell-by date.

Couple of days left in the window, Spurs City and Chelsea have all signed several players, we got dicked at home to a very average Villa side, we're down to bare bones thanks to the size of our squad and injuries and we've just been handed a very tough CL draw. And still not a penny spent on transfers.
