I’m not sure what sending him back on loan is going to achieve.

This is where the 'closed shop' of football and private owners like Kroenke are a nightmare. In any publicly listed company, if money £100m was invested on two 'assets' like Pepe/Saliba that either didn't perform or weren't utilised, shareholders would legitimately be demanding answers as ultimately it would affect their investment value or the ability to pay dividends i.e. the people that run the club would be totally accountable to the investors. Here with only 1 investor, and a silent one at that, nobody really knows what's going on.

One thing is for sure, i don't buy this bullshit about no room in the squad for Saliba, and nor do I believe that one of the most highly rated young defenders in Europe is suddenly not in our top 10 options at centre half......so this bloke is so bad he's behind Luiz, Gabriel, Holding, Chambers, Mustafi, Mari, Sokratis.....and even others that have been asked to play at centre half under Arteta e.g. Tierney, Kolasinac, Xhaka. Sorry, I'm just not buying that at any level

Every day that passes in January without signing a right back and a creative midfielder will prove a massive difference at the end of the season.

Just can't get the January window - its a bit like Christmas shopping for blokes. It's in the diary, you know its coming and yet it all seems to be rushed at the last minute.

You would have thought the players were identified, clubs approached in December, fees agreed, agents on side......1st January, bang - get it done

The squad has such glaring deficiencies in those two positions its unbelievable, and no 'mini revival' will put that right.

All I ever see is linkages with more centre halves (the lad from Hertha), various wingers and flaky forwards. If Bellerin is our first choice right back for the rest of the season and we don't sign an attacking, goal scoring midfielder then the mini revival will soon be over and we'll be playing the same sterile football for the rest of the season

We might sign a goal scoring midfielder but chances are he will come from a league where any of us would be able to score goals from midfield Either that or we will sign some unproven young player with the usual bull.shit club statements about how this kid is gonna develop into on of the best creative midfielders in the world Maybe

There is a Mid-fielder who plays for Norwich - Emi Buendia - Creative and Skilled, Tough and Young - We could get him for #15mill - And he (imo) is a future talent.

Never seen the lad play so I can’t say I’m angry with Arteta for not picking him. However if he turns into a superb player then it’ll reflect very badly on Arteta.

On the bright side, if we do sell, hopefully we can get £20m+ to reinvest in the squad.

I can neither confirm or deny that, but it's a pity the guy who used to be on here who had a cousin in France who he would ring on a regular basis to find out about our French signings is no longer on here.

Personally, the only position we need to sign a player for is goal keeper. Runnersson has got Karius written all over him.
We need to shift players out not bring anyone else in. The squad is too big. We have 6 players out of contract at the end of the season, they need to all go, plus two more in January. We'll be a lot better off with them gone, than with them hanging around stinking the place out and negatively influencing any new signings.
For me the most important signing will be getting Balogun to sign a new 5 year deal. He looks the business, more clinical than Eddie

It seems that I am the only one who thinks that it is very unfair that our back up keeper is already being written off - he is a new signing trying to get adjusted to new team-mates, new club, and new country, and despite only playing 5 games in 4 months, he is expected to be sharp as a tack at all times Anyone that knows anything about football will acknowledge that goalkeeper and strikers are the two positions where players need a run of games to be match sharp, but our back up keeper hasnt had that so it is unfair to judge him so quick imo

Edit : Just had a quick scroll through the clubs official website and it appears that they have written him off too cos they dont have him listed anywhere in the appearance stats pages

Watched the old firm yesterday and in afternoon I was chatting to a scottish guy (living in dublin last 20 years) who is a big celtic fan - I was saying to him (again) that ryan christie is shite and I cannot understand the hype about him in scotland, and he then tells me that two of the papers in scotland yesterday morning linked him with a move to Arsenal Technically this guy is an attacking midfielder.
