Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

RvP owes us nothing if he joined a top class premier league club and has now woken up in an academy for the average, useless, erratic and occasionally good young player.

I have nothing but contempt for the way the club treats us. Anyone else wonder how long ago that meeting was and how magically it all starts to come out now. Season tickets renewed....

Good luck to him but if the club has any respect for us in any way shape or form then he goes abroad .......means he's probably off to City.

On a side note I f**king hate that prick McGarry. Anytime the c u next tuesday is on 5live I switch it off.

It was clear from his statement that he had told them he would not be signing a new deal when they met before the Euros. Giroud is a respsonse to them knowing he would not be playing at the club this season.

 Not only can the guy get more money but he can also get trophies at any number of other clubs. "The Arsenal way" is so wrong and outdated, no wonder players can't get out the door quick enough. We're running things like it's 1991 still.

I'm sad but not suprised by this.

The board/management show no ambition. He shows no loyalty. Yes he wants trophies, he deserves them. But after standing by him all this time I expected more from him.

If he goes to city then he's clearly not done this for football. How much game time does he think he'll get at city? Other world class player sit on the bench week in week out, does he really think he'll be different? If he goes abroad then all I say is "good luck".

I don't understand why people have already written off Podolski and Girous though. Yes they could be flops like Chamakh, or they could be like Henry and Bergkamp. We don't know.

Sorry mate but Shitty offer ambition, chance to win titles, cups etc....the kind of shit he thought he signed up for when he joined us. Anyway how do we know his constant injuries aren't down to our medical staff. Check out how relatively fit Nasty, clichy, Cesc etc have been since they wised up and got the hell away from our death clinic known as the physios room.

At his age I'm not really bothered about whether he stays as long as we get some serious money for him and it is invested over and above what we have already paid for the 2 new boys. Would be quite happy to do a players + cash deal with Man City if we got Adam Johnson as part of it. Is it me or was it fate that in his penultimate season RVP managed to go through it injury free and scoring aplenty (when he wants in fact). Guarantee hes back on the treatment table next season where ever he is.... in fact that's probably quite a good reason why he wants to get away from Arsenal

i'm happy for him to go to City if they give us Balotteli in return. straight swap.

Juve offered 8 million for RvP due to his age and the fact he only had a year on his contract. I don't think City will overpay either.

we'll probably only get 10-15 million. which will only buy another prospect, so we might as well hang onto him til christmas and see how it goes.

I think the timing of RVP's statement is due to Wengers & Hill-Woods statements Monday & Tuesday about "not for sale" and "keep him at all costs".

it looks like they are going to slug it out in the media. the player always wins though - even tevez eventually.

"As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss [Arsene Wenger] and Mr [Ivan] Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club's future strategy and their policy.

Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr Wenger, the players and the fans I don't want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal should move forward.

"I've thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

"I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last eight years. As soon as Mr Gazidis is back from his two-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments.

.....................................................

He WOULD stay if *word censored* Wenker and *word censored* Kroenke would sell the dross and BUY some TOP Quality players. He (like us) has asked them to invest - they're trying to do it on the cheap - we all know that unless Arsenal get in Top Quality players we will never compete for the Prem Title - RVP knows this as well - at least he has the balls to challenge them - unlike all the other pussies who take their weekly wage and kow tow to *word censored* Wenker, and as for Gazidis he's paid a fucking fortune and should get his arse back here NOW!...But he won't , why? cos the *word censored*'s probably blowing Kroenke as we speak - Gazidis *word censored* knew they weren't going to do a damn thing in response to RVP's request to Invest Properly.

But instead buy the equivalent of Tesco rejects.

WHERE'S THAT FUCKING BANNER!?

Would love to see us get Balotelli in exchange but sadly i think we'd get shitty Dzeko or some other make weight. I knew Giroud/olski was too good to be true.

Tin hat time, but I think RvP does care, and that is why he is leaving.
He probably knows more than any of us as to whom the club are trying to buy, and he thinks it will not be enough to win the league.
He wants to win things.

We won't be selling him to Spurs or Liverpool or Newcastle, our rivals for the 4th place trophy. The teams trying to win the league cannot be considered our rivals and haven't been for several years.
