Villa match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I really don't know what more Walcott can do to get himself taken off free-kick duty. Everything about his free-kicks are woeful. Given that you can't even scored an own goal directly from a free-kick I'm not sure he could do much worse.

Arteta is the only player I can think of that we have who even knows how to take a set piece.

I suppose it's not the sort of thing we bother with in training though, it'd take up time from practicing our possession drills.

the first 6 months, he was fighting with RVP to take them, and scored a couple of nice ones.

but sadly, like Ox's directness and Vermaelens positioning, its been "coached" out of them.

i sometimes wonder if those players who improve under us like Kos, BFG etc actually train after hours on their own to keep their standards up between the international games.

and all our players used to be so much better in bed
then Wenger ruined it.
Podolski's cooking was famous across Germany
but ever since leProf laid eyes on him his schnitzel has been bland
Arteta used to be able to do a Rubik's cube in 39 seconds
but thanks to Wenger he struggles to even do one side
Feo was actually half way through THE regeneration of postmodernism in a modern novel
Arsene offered a contract and suddenly all he could knock out was that I'm a kid footballer shite
Little known fact - global warming didn't exist until Wenger started using aerosol deodorant

The ice caps are indeed melting due to te amount of hot air spouted by Arsene. There's no real eveidence for it, but it is scientific fact.

Yup, he's basically saying he doesn't believe coaching has any influence on a professional footballers career.

I've been browsing this forum for a while now and I have to skip over his posts as they induce narcolepsy.

I'm saying the idea that everything positive being down to players
but everything negative being down to coaching
is fecking retarded

That's true, but I do wonder if we coach certain attributes out of players (like shooting from distance and defensive discipline). Not intentionally, but perhaps by way of starving them of the opportunity to practice/develop these skills by focussing on other areas during training, such as one touch football and 5-a-side games (as a crude example).

Just a theory.

Of course, that theory also assumes our players improve in other areas of their game where Arsenal thrive, like passing sideways and stuff like that :D
