The ONLY Euro 2016 thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

3 teams that can go through was a daft idea. Teams are just setup to draw games making most of the games a snooze fest

There's no thread for Copa America so I'll update you on the couple Arsenal players in it.

Ospina has been very good for the Columbians, they are in the semi finals vs Chile. Alexis has been the best player in the entire tournament for me. Absolutely bossed Mexico the other night, who had not lost a game in 22 matches. He pretty much had a hand in every single goal (they won 7-0, biggest defeat in Mexican history) and it was in front of 80,000 Mexican fans.

Other semi final is Argentina vs USA. Should set up a nice Chile v Argentina final. Messi has been outstanding as well. The fact that Argentina can start with Messi and Higuain and bring Kun Aguero off the bench is disgusting. Probably the best international team in the world but Chile will give them a run for their money in the final, if it goes that way.

Any side being able to stick Aguero on the bench is lols.

Presumably there is another Copa America because it's the centenary? Complete piss-take in my opinion that they have been allowed to hold it two years running. That is three successive summers of international football tournaments for players that are already playing 50-60 games in the regular season. Particularly ridiculous for Argentina if they reach the final of all 3 (and potentially win none!).

Yep. My first impression was he's a Tarquin!

He does make some valid points though. Too many English fans go to foreign cities and think it's acceptable to offend the locals. But still I would say that even if you add the numbers of actual hooligans to the number of "enablers" (or whatever they want to call the ones that boo national anthems and insult & offend the locals but don't get involved in violence) they would still be the minority of English fans. Well, I hope so anyway. :|

TBH I reckon it might be time to abandon the concept of these large international football tournaments. They are mostly shit football-wise with little to no quality in the games, and the hooligan shit is well and truly back now that the East Europeans in particular can travel with ease. Nothing against East Europeans par se but their hooligans are now a serious problem and will be for years to come.

If we have to have Interlull football maybe just have small league groups spread out over 4 years with a final (or semis and a final in different countries) at the end, thus avoiding having 100s of thousands of fans from so many countries descending on one single country for 3 weeks.

TBH I would not miss Interlull football at all if it simply disappeared. :|

But you're fans would not be able to act like street cleaners for a fortnight otherwise.

Damn do-gooders! :D

Yeah it's the 100 year anniversary so they held one this year as well. I assume the next one will be in 3 years, keeping the original 4 year schedule.
