As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

do we have an excuse yet ?
its flipping frustrating. nothing more to say.
There's a lot more to say. The best managers have know how to play wenger - hence mourinho has never lost wenger !
That's the story ... We continue with a manager who uses all resources to generate expected performance or "average " performance, with no prospect of "outperformance" and that is boring beyond belief !!
Meanwhile other teams are getting better .... Think about what that means in 3 years !
Mourinho has never lost to Wenger for one simple reason, the money the chavs have spent.
I'm just enjoying the moment being top, not for one minute do I expect to be there for long.
How can we compete with chelsea and Man city? In my eyes, they're not even big clubs.
Just hope we beat the mickies sat and stay top for a bit longer.
Not the biggest Wenger supporter, but will support him whilst hes manager.
So because Mourinho has spent more than Wenger that means its perfectly acceptable for the Coach of the Decade to not beat him one single time in 9 attempts?
How did Everton manage to beat them this year - they sold their best player and spent the best part of fuck all again
And seeing as Chelsea outspent everyone in world football when Mourinho first joined them, that must mean they went that whole period without a single defeat and did the quadruple every season then? Because football really is as simple as 'whoever spends the most money always wins'. How much money did Dortmund spend in reaching the CL final last year and how much did they spend in the window just gone when we spent £42m on one player?
Wenger has never beaten Mourinho because he is by far the inferior coach and tactician, and Mourinho knows exactly how to set his teams up to beat us (whether their first or second string)

how did Blackburn, Bradford and Schalke beat US ?
anyone who thinks this is a blip, or result of being out competed with money is delusional.
this argument will end the same way as it did last year - another piss poor season waved away with promises from the board, and the same idiot in charge who hasn't seen the world pass him by, being forced into panic buys.
David Moyes is a genuis in comparison, even fucking fat sam can set up a team better than our senile old fart.
Even Bergkamp couldn't save this management, or lack of.
WHEN Wenger finally goes he'll have a massive say in who replaces him (because it WILL be on his own terms and certainly not a sacking) - and he'll probably recommend that Croatian bloke who manages the Japanese club Wenger was at. I'm not trying to paint him as someone who wants to see the club fail but I don't for a minute believe Wenger would want to be followed by a popular and enigmatic character like Klopp who would tear up much of what Wenger holds dear at the club and replace it with his own methods and ideas (not to mention possibly bring some quick success).
Although Klopp will soon get very disillusioned with his best endeavours at Dortmund being shat all over by Bayern signing their best player every season and bullying them around like they have the rest of the German league for a long time.
Its Wenger for another 2 or 3 years, before he takes on an ambassador's role and appoints his lovechild Stojkovic as manager to maintain the tippy tappy trophyless era
Its very simple. No team on the planet can win trophies with players like Bendtner, Jenkinson, Monreal, in there team. We got rid of loads of shite players this transfer window but those who remain will always come unstuck against the better teams. Our formation is flawed and we dont have plan B so the bigger teams know exactly how to beat us. Also this formation puts our decent midfield players out of position so they look worse than they are. November will be one to forget.

Your comment on how much money the Chavs have, could have been said by Wenger himself, the usual excuses. The reality is we have not beaten Chelsea, because they have a manager who(like Ferguson did) changes his tactics game to game, depending on the opposition. Arsenal play the same way reguardless of the opposition, and it works against shit teams, but we will always be found out by any decent opposition we meet.
He has a point in the sense that the chavs are not the only team in the league to use a similar tactic against us and yet we don't lose every time a team tries it, far from it. But when you've got 11 £20m players squeezing space and hitting us on the counter it suddenly becomes much more effective.
Don't get me wrong, we play right into their hands time after time and I'd love to see us not get drawn but if it weren't for the money that bunch would either be out of business or scrabbling around mid table at best. FACT, as babatunde would say.

People that staunchly defend Wenger love to look at things we (as a club) have no control over and of course they play a big part in what happens in the context of our success or otherwise. But there are so many things that we do have control of which could be significantly improve and don’t which they seem to get ignored.
As loads of people on here point out, tactics, understanding of the opposition deficiencies etc. cost nothing.
Why can’t we ignore what we can’t control for now (there is no point on dwelling on them), and identify where we need to improve the things we can control. Then actually take steps to sort them out and if we do that and still come up short then say “We’ve done everything in our power but greater resources meant the competition beat us”. The biggest frustration with Wenger is the problems are basically always the same and the majority of time the solution isn’t actually money related but changing our approach. He simply isn’t addressing those issues, which means he either hasn’t identified them as problems or doesn’t know how to solve them. Either way, it isn’t satisfactory!
The amount of money other teams spend is relevent to a degree but people pointing to it as an excuse forget about the poor performances and results we have had last season against bradford, blackburn, norwich and villa and teams are paupers in comparison to us - we can all excuse an upset here and there but to have so many poor results (and many more performances) against the less wealthy kinda makes a mockery of how great the influence of money is sometimes
A well prepared, average to good team with decent tactics can easily beat a super rich team on occasions. Arsenal don't win those games because they are not well prepared or given any decent tactics to employ because our manager deems it unnecessary to plan or prepare for any given game differently. Fact.
