The killer line is Gazidis' two week holiday in America. Shouldnt he have gone on this at the end of the season instead of now. What WE pay him for is being at Arsenal and doing all he can do to ensure that we keep our best players and improve the sqaud so we can challenge for trophies. It really surprises me just how deluded some of our fans are.
Van Persie not signing because we wont win trophies again for a long time. Lets face it this is the most obvious truth.
Podolski and Giroud are unknown but our defense is known and conceeds goals all the time. Chelsea we are not in a defensive term.
Anyway we have just lost one of the best strikers in the world. Also our last true great so its gone full circle for me now and we are back to pre George Graham Arsenal with no chance of success.

Whilst there is no way he should go on a long holiday during the season or during our pre season tour, the man deserves a break.
He has taken it between the Euros and our pre-season travels, and in this day and age would have a couple of smartphones and an ipad with him to stay in touch.

If Van Persie wanted to extend his contract he could meet with Wenger, Dick Law and Ken Friar; Gazidis could be on Skype or a conference call if vitally needed.

At his age I'm not really bothered about whether he stays as long as we get some serious money for him and it is invested over and above what we have already paid for the 2 new boys. Would be quite happy to do a players + cash deal with Man City if we got Adam Johnson as part of it. Is it me or was it fate that in his penultimate season RVP managed to go through it injury free and scoring aplenty (when he wants in fact). Guarantee hes back on the treatment table next season where ever he is.... in fact that's probably quite a good reason why he wants to get away from Arsenal

So he had a meeting on 16th May. Pretty certainly he would have told the club then or thereabouts. They basically kept it until the season ticket renewal deadline passed -
