Granddad's funeral today, exactly what he'd have wanted: buried in the pissing sideways rain on a freezing cold Valleys mountain overlooking his house. Welsh hymns and folk songs: proper Rhondda boy. Always sad to bury somebody but he'd had a great life and was increasingly weak, after mugging Death off on countless occasions over the years it was his time.

None of us can go on forever, sounds like he enjoyed his life and lived it to the full., as should we all.

I for one don't want to be a shell of a person with no faculties left, having to be cleaned, dressed, fed and sit staring into space all day long. I want to go when I reach the age when I have had enough.

Cheers fellas. As I say there was about as minimal sadness around the death as is possible, his physical health would have deteriorated hugely so it was definitely his time.

He was a Buff so they did a ceremony at the burial which was actually very nice.

Northbank, I have no idea what a Buff is  to me it conjours up images of male models care to explain ?

Haha I never really had much idea mate. It's basically a working class version of the Freemasons. Given that this lodge is almost exclusively made up of men from the Rhondda Valleys in their 60s, 70s and 80s then I think 'male models' might be stretching it a bit

rip tony greig, devastating news, absolutely shocking news we all thought he would beat cancer and now this hapopened, an aussie summer wont be the same again, plus a top player.

ikewise CMJ another massive loss, although not so unexpected consdiering he had been battling cancer for over a year, the english summer and TMS wont be the same without u.

both taken well before their time.

anyone unfamiliar with AW Greig should listen to the 12th man piss takes, they are spoofs but give a great insight of how he actually commentated.

My boyhood hero, to the extent that I started supporting Sussex and used to turn my collar up on my cricket shirt and hold my bat half raised like he used to when I played for the school team, much to the amusement of my coach and team-mates. Also went on to become a great commentator and both he and Christopher Martin Jenkins will be missed by cricket lovers the world over.

R I P: Huw Lloyd-Langton (of Hawkwind). 6.2.51 to 6.12.12

I don't think anyone has posted this sad, sad loss.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obitu ... 06440.html

Top muso and geezer....back in the 80's me and some mates went over to Germany (Berlin) to see them play and we got robbed, Huw and the band heard about it and put us up for a week staying with the band and going to all the gigs...we had such a larf....a real treat for us, Huw took a personal interest in making sure we were all looked after and got us safely home etc.

I'm really sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. :(

evening squires of the gooner forum,

just stopping by to leave a quick note - some of you may have seen from twitter that my beloved mum passed today after a three and a half year battle with lung cancer.

devastated and heartbroken but very, very grateful for the extra years we had with her after her initial 3 month prognosis. she passed in no pain and was comfortable surrounded by her family.

feel like i'm stunned by the grief right now but also relieved that she is in a better place. 50 is no age to die but i know she is resting now.

RIP mum

I will be about sporadically while we arrange her service of rememberance so DB10, it's up to you with the tippers thread now!

speak soon guys and UTA
