The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal director Lord Harris of Peckham has said that manager Arsene Wenger will be encouraged to spend this summer and that "with the exception of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, we could buy most players."

Full story: London Evening Standard

Everyone apart from Messi, Ronaldo and Bale is coming

Literally about to post this :D

I found this part interesting - "We will support Arsene with the players he wants to buy. He has always been encouraged to spend". I guess that blows the 'no money' argument completely out the window :box:

Was on the transfer rumours section of sky sports this morning and somebody put up a rumour that seems to make perfect sense - he/she stated that we were negotiating a cut price deal for Griezmann and in return we would remove the cheap buy back clause from vela's contract. I was somewhat surprised when I seen AFC linked with a move to bring back vela but when you look at it and see it as a negotiating ploy to lower the Griezmann fee then it makes sense cos we are def a club that prioritises ££££

Expect to see another French, cheap one season wonder signing for the ambitious AFC in the very near future

The only way signing cesc works is if cazorla isn't in the first 11 or is sold imo

That's the only way I see Cesc fitting in. But we're gonna ship a load of goals with that midfield.

Where's Abou....???

Why not Ozil be the one to be sold ?, Santi can play out on the left.

This is what is so wrong with those oil/oligarch rich clubs. They f**k up the market. On what planet is David Luiz worth 40million pounds. Now the Chavs have money to buy Costa with change left over and PSG will probably get the money for Luiz by selling all that surplus talent they amassed.

In a sane world there is no way the Chavs make a profit on David Luiz. Can see Pastore/Lavezzi/Moura being transfer listed.

i never thought Luiz was all that - i was shocked to see his age. he plays like an older, slower player.

& what about city - just paid 2.4million for a 14 year old FFS. 14....

He is but means nothing if he doesn't adapt to our league and having Cesc(if he came back),Ozil and Santi would be overkill.

Think about that you're saying here: wouldn't you rather be faced with the "problem" of having Ozil and Fabregas in the same team, instead of seeing him in United colours playing with Judas and Shrek?
Don't see wh we cant do some sort of swap deal. Ozil for Fabregas + Pedro
Really?

Why, after spending £42m on a player, would we be looking to use him as a makeweight for a player we could apparently buy back for cash due to a first option?

Your trolling of Özil is becoming more and more bizarre.
I think Ozil will turn a corner this coming season and truly demonstrate his brilliance - we all know he has it in him....and who better than to help him bring it to the fore than Cesc. between them AND a Top Top TOP (Proper) Striker like Cavani - we would destroy teams.
