I gave up as soon as he arrived at Heathrow on his way to Rome... As far as he was concerned business was concluded weeks ago. It wouldn't surprise me if Welbeck was panic bought by Law and sanctioned by Gazidis while Wenker was away.SteveO 35 wrote:I see everyone's long since given up on a natural defensive midfielder joining us then. Admittedly, he isn't what any of us would have wanted, but he can play across the front 3 as well as on his own. He is loads better than Sanogo. A bit of a weird one really because I thought that Sanchez would have been the number 9 as Wenger claimed, but we now know that 'we have an unbelievable amount of strikers' was in fact a load of bullshit.
We desperately need a centreback. 30 minutes left!

Re: The oh f**k why TRANSFER THREAD
I don't really think that we need this midfield destroyer. I'd rather see something a bit more like Alonso sitting in front of the back four. Someone who can break up play, but with a range of passing. Arteta is close, but not quite there. Schweinsteiger would be the other one.SteveO 35 wrote: I see everyone's long since given up on a natural defensive midfielder joining us then. I see a centreback as a priority and then a striker, but we know that Wenger is an idiot and won't change a system to suit his players, so we waste good players like Podolski.

I couldn't give a flying fuck about what they've done - what about our weaknesses?1989 wrote:Manure have spent over 145m pounds this summer and haven't sorted out their main weaknesses.
We've got fucking Bambi on Ice (borrowed quote from earlier

Flamoney, Arteta and now supposedly JW10 pretending to be the holding midfielders he has refused to sign for years
3 CBs (one of whom whilst promising is a RB who can cover there and has a handful of PL appearances to his name)
Wenger's mismanagement of this transfer window has hit new heights. What will he say in January? Its difficult to do business....nobody wants to sell.......no shit Sherlock....all the more fucking reason to get it done in July.

Fucking Welbeck. Seems as if Arsenal's policy is to see who is outside, ask if they fancy a game then sign them up.

Bang on. Wouldn't have been my first choice a month ago but 3m more than reported bid for Welshite? No brainer.SteveO 35 wrote:Bony gave the best display of CF play (in the game at our place) that I've seen since Drogba repeatedly smashed us
Confirmed that he has a £19m release clause and no doubt his wages probably under 50k per week

"Nobody available at the right price"

Last season: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dann...r ... verein/985
Spent the first half of the season playing almost exclusively on the left side, then got his chance in December and scored 6 goals and had 2 assists in 7 matches. Got injured and didn't get 90 minutes again until the last day of the season.
Fergie's last year: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dann...r ... verein/985
Longest chance given as a striker -- 3 games, combined 31 minutes. Shunted wide all season long. Only 1300 minutes all season in 27 games. An average of less than 50 minutes per appearance.
First season: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dann...r ... verein/985
9 league goals as a 20 year old.
The problem amongst United fans is he's judged as a striker despite playing wide left more often than up front. I'd be delighted if I was an Arsenal fan, fantastic deal they've got.

Stats can lie you know 1989... I don't think he is as bad as some would have you think, but he is not of the quality I want at The Arsenal. Last year Wenker wanted Suárez because he was better than Giroud, now all of a sudden Giroud is perfectly adequate and he is only buying a similar player.1989 wrote:

Re: The oh f**k why TRANSFER THREAD
I think he has fantastic footballing abilities, passing, insane speed, dribbling. He got everything you could wish for in a striker. Except he has the finesse of a defender and doesn't score. Hes pretty much all of Arsenals problems combined in one player.1989 wrote:Nice one SteveO. Yeah they sound absolutely gutted, You're making yourself sound like the sort of Gooner the wanky Adrian Durham was mocking earlier when he said "admit it Arsenal fans, you all thought Danny Welbeck was rubbish. Now you'll be telling us how you always thought he was a good player"
Have fun with him.
That one any good for you? That fella calls it as I see it - lots of pace but the finishing ability of a turd

Yep, definitely has the finesse of a defender. Just look at that finish, terrible.
