Remy strikes me as a Michu/Ba/Benteke type one season wonder. Also not sure about going for a player who has a rape case hanging over his head.

Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, on a six-month loan to bolster his attacking options. (Mail)

I am certainly one who has found our transfer policy baffling at times, especially the neglect of the defensive midfielder position for so long.

But with the money in football spread around we cannot expect to buy every player we go for....and to be honest whilst I was keen on Benteke over the summer, he and Michu have not had great seasons.

Di Maria isn't coming. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Augie 'bragging' about spotting Remy :D I'd rather be spotted shagging one of the two Old Trafford banner lovelies. Remy is fucking shite.....a quick Giroud......and I hope with every bone in my body that he isn't coming

Steve O, answer me this..

1. is remy better than the worlds greatest Danish striker ?
2. is remy a better option than le postman pat ?
3. is remy a better option than "super quality" park ?
4. is remy a better option than giroud ?

I would argue that the answer to all 4 questions should be yes which supports the idea of him being a good option - of course he isn't the worlds best striker but he is better than all the options we currently have so on that basis alone he would be an upgrade surely ?
There's only one question that needs answering......can he play lone striker in the never to change 4-5-1. The answer to that question is no, so what would be the point of signing him?

Also Quartz, so what about 10 goals? You could have quoted better figures this time last year for Michu.....and I wouldn't want him either. Just don't see Remy as the answer to our striking issue at all. Not good enough for us

Apparently we are thinking of sending Gnabry to Wigan, not a bad idea, give him some game time just so long as there is a recall clause.

Personally I'd rather loan him out to Martinez at Everton, if he can help do over the rest of the top 6 wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

When I suggested signing Remy last summer, and earlier in fact, I suggested that he was not just an option as lone striker, but as a wide attacking midfielder, which I saw as an advantage, but others on here shot that down.

Remy has not just scored this season, he has consistently scored each season.
Not the amount of a top level striker, but as someone who would be a decent bench option - a replacement for all three of Miyaichi, Park and Bendtner.
I suggested we should buy him plus a top level striker and keep Giroud, leaving us with three options up front plus the possible emergence or Afobe and Akpom in future.
Remy was in good form at the end of last season for QPR - I do not regard him as a one season wonder.
I think his style of play would suit us as an alternative to Podolski too.

Why people have the slightest interest in another benchwarmer (and one who would come with massive QPR wages too) is absolutely beyond me. A better striker than Giroud is what is so obviously required, not a bloke who could play the odd game there and give us another option in Pod's role.

Rather save the money than pay something like 12m and 80k per week for Remy.

Steve O

When I and others suggested Remy last summer, both myself and Augie made the point that Remy would be worth signing in addition to a top level striker, not instead of.

Giving us a new top level striker, Giroud and Remy as our main attacking options, with the youth players to push for places if ready.

Quartz - if There's Only One signs one striker in January I'll be fucking amazed let alone two. Until the time he addresses the bleeding obvious and gives us a proper 'first option' I couldn't give a shite about the likes of fucking Remy. If indeed that day comes when he finally sees what all of us that haven't worked a single day in football realised the day Van Persie left and does what he's employed to do i.e. concentrate on improving the first team squad rather than playing amateur economist.......by signing a top notch striker, then fine. go and sign Remy......but he isn't any better than any first team regular we already have so back-up is all it should ever be.

I can only see us buying a bench warmer and someone who can step in if Giroud gets injured. Having said that i cant see him buying anyone until the summer . If Giroud manages the whole season and then the world cup he will be totally knackered.

I think we will sign a striker in January but unfortunately as a back up to Giroud not a first team player.

Wenger obviously doesn't rate Bendtner (who does?) and will happily get rid of him and the fact he tried to get Ba (albeit far too late on) suggests that he is aware that we need another striking option. Sadly think it will be someone of a similar standard to Ba but at least that would mean we have someone to bring on around the 70th minute in most games so Giroud's not so knackered.
