 At least he'd have kicked a ball for us this season, which is more than you can say about the non-factor that is Diaby.

All I see him doing is kicking lumps out of the oppo as they nick the ball off one of his two left feet :D

Talk of needing 10 signings or whatever is a bit excessive. Liverpool showed you only need two class players and a few other good ones and if you get them firing and don't have CL congestion you can find your way towards the top of the league. United are well off at the moment but it's a bit of a myth that you need a squad packed full of class players.

But happy to admit that I have denied myself a good lol at Utd's expense. (although been having some quiet chuckles and smug grins on the fly)

Oh happy days......

Me too

One of the arguments manure fans have been coming up with in recent months, is that phil jones is a good centre back that is being played out of position by moyes.......last sunday showed him up as the brainless, adkward (sp  ) shit player that I have always argued that he was. For me he is not so much bambi on ice as much as nelly the elephant on ice and he looks so clumsy that it is laughable

Has to be said that last sunday, fellaini and shrek were the best 2 players they had although mata looked alright in patches

The thing that I'm really loving about this situation is listening to their "fans" on phone ins bemoaning the fact that they're ordinary and in disarray this season. Last night Andy Goldstein was on talksport almost in tears! So funny! After 20 years of their arrogance and sense of entitlement, it really is hard not to giggle.

Ferguson saw through what a calamity Jones was at centre-back after a handful of games - hence why golden boy was instead farmed out to be utility RB (looked a lot better in a team where he could repeatedly bomb forward without worry) or CM. My mate has the misfortune of being a Blackburn fan but said before they sold him he was a better CM than CB.

Unfortunately everywhere I look there are United fans who clearly think that by refusing to 'walk away' from their team after one poor season they are clearly diehard fans with massive perspective.

I think you need four - GK, CB, CM and Striker.

interesting to see the swing in opinion re Rooney - i was slated in early Feb when i said i'd never want him here and he's too fat and unmotivated....

Rooney might be only 28 but he's past it - no pace or stamina anymore.

To build a team round him is ludicrous. United gonna struggle next year too Rvp won't stay to earn less than half of shreks wages.

Their reign is truly done.
I do wish that sometimes people would stop letting their hatred of a player/team over-rule any football sense they may have.

Liverpool have shown you can do it with less than that if the circumstances fall into place! Granted they are imo punching above their weight, will still fall short and would be well back if they had 10 CL games to deal with. But they really have two class players - and that is being fairly generous to Sturridge to include him in the very top bracket.

Apart from that their squad is packed full of average players? Coutinho is good enough but I personally wouldn't have him in my squad ahead of Cazorla, Ozil, Silva, Nasri, Mata or Hazard for starters.

it also helps that stevie me has scored 32 out of 36 penalties.

I agree about sturridge, but 18 PL goals in 27 games is bordering WC. id like to see him do it another year before i'd give him that tag - i guess i'd qualify my comment as 'in a normal year'...

as much as we hate them the chavs did have Cech, Terry, Essien and Drogba as the spine of their team. and again plus fat fwank to blast in shots and kicks.

United had Van Der Saar, Vidic, Scholes and Rooney. but they had a cast of mongs too - P neville, butt, Oshea, wesley brown, who were utter pants once they left united.

As much as I don't want the Victims to win anything I have to admit the sense of injustice permeating from Manc Filth "fans" because of the penalties is hilarious. These fuckers have NO sense of irony.

Phil Jones wouldn't get a game in my Over 35's league team tbh. And both our CH's are piss! :barscarf:

Moyes always wanted to have Everton on a par with Man Utd ...well guess what ..it only took seven months out of Everton for him to achieve that.

If Ferguson was still manager Jones, Cleverly and Smalling would be guaranteed a seat on the plane to Brazil...If Woy heeds the warnings United's disastrous season will do England a favour.
Jones is a lumbering rugby player, totally out of place on a top class football pitch. But when he joined United the media convinced one and all that he was the new Bobby Moore. United are paying the price for failing to build a squad over the last few years, they are no longer intimidating to opponents or referees (more importantly) , and their true world class player is now being seen for what Arsenal fans said he was for the last 18 months.
I can see them win 3-1 tonight, go out of Europe but Moyes attempting to being bullish about the performance. God help them if they do go through tonight. They would be destroyed by the quality that is left in the competition.

Maybe the third penalty on Sunday was a bit dodgy but they should have got a fourth one anyway. The most important thing about the penalties on Sunday was the fact that they were given...nothing shows the demise of United as a playing power and an intimidating force more than the fact that a referee actually goes to Old Trafford and referees a match.
