I hope Koscielny plays football again but I seriously hope he does it somewhere else! Like Burma.

Monreal and Bellerin were absolutely the two worst players on the pitch tonight.
Neither put a decent cross in, both regularly out of position.
Is that their fault or the system they're ask to play? If you want your RB and LB to put in crosses then someone has to cover them.

Yes it is their fault. Their crossing is poor, and so was their defending. Bellerin at fault in away leg, Monreal in the first leg.

Unless the club appoint a serious manager such as Allegri, Simeone or Ancelotti I am done, I have had enough of being taken the piss out of with a 2nd rate manager (Wenger) and if we go for some unknown out of saving money motives then they can f*ck right off, very little left to like about what is left of Arsenal FC.

Nearly 30 years down the drain thanks to the greedy American scum and the egotistical Wenger.

Not disputing their poor defending more the out of position.

Bellerin got caught with two players , he took the one inside but Costa stayed wide and got on his blind side. Ospina however must have been able to see this and did not shout , just as he didn't when he and Kos went for a ball he should have caught but ended up punching it out. There is little or no talking in our back four and generally the midfield is so far away they wouldn't hear if they were shouted at. Ospina should have stayed on his feet and rushed to Costa then he would have had to put the ball round him rather than chip into an empty net.
The defence was a shambles but then none of us are particularly surprised at that
A decent winger , defensive midfielder two defenders and a keeper and 4th to 6th should be a start for a new manager. but then we have been saying that for a long time as well.

Fair play Calum Chambers. Lad played his heart out tonight. Carried the bellend Mustafi who is supposed to be the more experienced senior CB.

Xhaka as well. Thought he was very impressive tonight.

Long time no post!

End of an era at last. At least this tie has stirred enough passion in me to be genuinely gutted that we lost and made me want to vent. Hasn’t happened in a while.

We seriously lack pace and athleticism. We’ve gone from Veira and Petit to watching Jack Wilshere plod around like he’s just smoked a pack of 50 and being unable to even stay in the same postcode as Costa when ‘tracking’ one of his runs.

Fullbacks atrocious and arguably the most shambolic failure of Wenger’s coaching, much more so than CBs imo. We’ve sacrificed so much to play them as virtual wingers and yet name me one in the latter day Wenger years who can even cross a fucking football. Jenkinson was probably the best!!! Fucking shambles.

Biggest game of the season and we don’t play our best goalkeeper. Enough said.

If I hear any more Arsenal fans say we’ve got great players I think I’ll scream. We’ve got a few good players but a terrible balance to the side. We’re good for knocking it around at home to West Ham and not much else.

The new manager is going to find he’s got a very overpaid squad of snowflakes to work with. I’m not holding my breath for a quick turnaround
You summed it up for me. Whoever comes in will still have this squad of average players to work with. Remember who we lost to this year. Stoke, Bournemouth, Brighton etc. Could struggle again next year. 6th or 7th maybe if we're lucky. :barscarf: :barscarf:

SPECIALIST IN FAILURE ?? Those words have come back to haunt Wenger
24 years now, 22 of them under Wenger, we have Failed in Europe, at least GG did Win One.

I Cant see the point now in doing a 500 mile round trip for the Burnley game , Wengers last ever Home game
Can just see thousands of those tickets now going on to ticket Exchange, mine included,
To Watch a dejected team try & Battle for 6th Place !! against a Burnley Side who will want it more.
Add to that his final 2 games, are both away from Home !!
Arsene FC "Away from home" not 1 single point won in a calendar year, Maybe that is how he will be remembered
The Only Manager in The English football Leagues to never win 1 Point !! Away in 2018

Will he Walk Now ?

Looking at the posts prior to the game was very surprised at the optimism, many posters predicting a win.....

Only thing Wenger has brought for me is a sense of detachment, i can look at this team and I dont see much...

Saw one post saying Monreal and Bellerin were decent defenders, sorry they are not, they are poor neither has any idea how to defend

Can agree out of this collection of over paid shite he has assembled be a while before we win a Euro final again

Whilst I never wish for an Arsenal defeat, part of me would not mind us losing our next 3 games (which are almost dead rubbers anyhow). If Wenger were to end in this way it may finally open the eyes of those who still support him....not that it makes any difference now.

My biggest concern now is that we may not attract a big enough replacement (by virtue of not being in the CL). Desperately trying to look for a bright spot....we are in a mess, does Kranky want this hassle with diminishing profits? Perhaps a real football billionaire will come along and make him an offer he cannot refuse!

I know we have had bad seasons in the past but on balance this is possibly the worst I recall. At least when we were crap in the 80's we knew where we stood and had no expectations. With Wenger we had expectations......but he failed to meet them after sprinting off at the start, even though the resources were there.

That he has not tried to win the league and CL in the last decade or so will always be unforgivable.

I put my lower tier ticket on TX at the start of the week. Still not sold which says everything. I think Sunday could well be another low crowd and many empty seats.
I think the club have a battle on to win back the support.

Bellerin was a cock all night, gave the ball away high up the pitch time after time. For their goal, he was nowhere near being in line with the other defenders. He went walkies up the pitch and Costa not for the first time, took us to the cleaners. There's no point in having blistering pace, if you've only got 2 brain cells to utilise it. The twat should spend more time working on the defensive side of his game rather than sitting in university campuses talking bollocks about Arsenal fans, who can spot the deficiencies in his game a mile off.

Monreal was better going forward, but lacked a decent final ball.

Ramsey played well? What the absolute fuck were some of you watching?  He ran around like a fucking headless chicken and lost possession with almost every touch. This English obsession that running a lot equals quality is why you won't win another world cup lads. Effort is great sure yeah but without quality and end product it's just fucking athletics ffs.

Bellerin and Manuel the Waiter are the 2 worst full backs in world football. How can a professional footballer not cross a ball? As for defending? Don't make me laugh.

Xhaka is gash. No brain. No discipline.

Ospina is as bad as Cech.

Welwide and Lacazette are PL average on a fucking good day. Neither have that first 5 yards in their brain, neither knows where or when to run, neither is clinical in front of goal, neither dominate in the air, neither have true pace, neither are strong enough to play lone striker, neither has a tight enough first touch to be a top striker. Giroud was bang average but he is light years ahead of either of those no-marks.

It's too easy and simplistic to point the finger at Ozil. He was anonymous for most of it but still created our two best chances which our 2 shit strikers were too slow to see. He is a luxury player that has to play in a system that suits him. If not then he should be subbed off but never is. Typical Wenger. Simeone knew that Ozil creates most of what is good about us and so last night played two very tight banks of 4 with no space in between for Ozil to create in. How did our "manager" counter that? Um he changed nothing. He should have switched to plan B and oh hang on.... In the right system with top players Ozil is a world class creator. In our team as it is he is a waste of 350k a week. Build the team around his ability or get rid. It's that simple.

Best 2 players for me were Chambers and Wilshere. Chambers gave everything and stopped a couple of probable goals. Wilshere was quietly economical and efficient with the ball and then gets subbed while the Welsh Messi-Lite is left on to fall over and constantly lose possession cheaply? No wonder Jack looked proper fucked off on the bench.

To the couple of posters happy that Kos probably ended his career last night.... you are shameful morons. Get a fucking grip ffs. Also being happy we lost to spite Wenger makes you an arsehole in anyone's book tbh.

I took the view that if you can't be optimistic before the second leg of a European semi final then when can you be optimistic ? :D
I didn't really expect much because that is what we have all got used to over the past decade.

there are very few times when a Wenger team has managed to win against a higher calibre opposition unfortunately.
