Really?

Sanchez, Wellbeck, Debuchy, Ospina and Chambers, a clusterfuck?

Granted it could have been better but it was hardly that.
Last seasons options at CB were - Kos, BFG, Sagna, Vermaelen and if the shit hit the fan there was Miguel.
We now have Kos, BFG and Chambers.

I would call that a cluster fuck. A couple of injuries at the back and we are in the shit. We already have Kos and Gibbs crocked.

Now the party is over....Thoughts on the window, Debuchy, Sanchez and chambers are very good signings. Ospina is a case of wait and see. Welbeck is the same, I think now that he is an Arsenal player he needs to be given a chance by us supporters. He maybe not what we wanted, certainly was nowhere near my wish list, but he is here and hopefully it works out for him. He is young and English so maybe now with Chambers, Gibbs, Ox, Theo, Jack and Welbeck in the squad the media may give us a bit of respect.
The down side is obvious, we have six defenders to cover four positions in four competitions (well three competitions, we can sign before the FA Cup defence begins) . Debuchy, Chambers ,Kos, Mert, Gibbs, Monreal ..that is criminal neglect by our globe trotting referee of a manager. We were threadbare at the back last season and our two defensive signings were replacements not additions. When I heard Miquel as going to Norwich I foolishly assumed that there was a better option on the way in. Bellerin looked good going forward in the Emirates Cup game, but is he a right back to step into serious competition in the event of injury ?. Actually in the inevitable event of injury.

We have a serious amount of midfielders but no serious midfielder in the enforcer holding role. again this is neglect by the manager. Arteta and Flamini are the options, one is is declining in his career and the other isn't good enough. Coming on, pulling up (or cutting off) his sleeves and pointing at spaces may look like his in control but it's hardly Vieira stuff.Know little or nothing about Carvalho from Lisbon but reports say he was the type we needed.

We were a long way behind City , Chelsea and even Liverpool last season , we needed to strengthen to attempt catching up. Instead , certainly with Chelsea, they probably have gone further ahead.
Final word...if the story about first refusal on Fabregas is true...not signing him was the biggest crime of the window. Not just for the sentimental reasons, but also because we will watch him win a premier league medal with Chelsea. He is the signing of the window and it is appalling that (if true) we could have got him and he wanted to come to us.

As much as there is an obsession with Fabregas, the signing of the window will prove to be Costa. Costa would score in a convent. Fabregas is the icing but as strikers go Costa o's perfect. Eye for goal, physically strong and not pacy but fast enough to get past most CB's,once he's bullied them into submission.

If Fabregas is injured Costa will still score. If Costa is injured for anything longer than a few weeks then the title belongs to City.

Liverpool,us,Manure all at the same level overall. On balance of striking options, midfield options and defensive capabilities, the 3 of us by my reckoning will be 3rd,4th and 5th. In what order, don't have a clue.

I had a cynical thought and do wonder if the anew television deal has some sort of stipulation that clubs must spend like mad on Deadline Day (maybe they get extra cash for doing so). I know that there is brinkmanship/poker playing involved with some of the deals, but it seems to me that quite a lot of deals could have been done a lot earlier than Deadline Day.

you all forgetting flamin can play left back!!!

haha what a joke.

all the signings were replacements bar sanchez and wellshit. yet we are far weaker in defence and midfield isdeclining as arterta and flamini age. but we are even though wellbeck is not good enough stronger in attack through numbers at least.

wellbeck is a sunderland player. should not be anywhere near a top 4 side. the signing is just yet another middling signing that will give the akb's enough to say hes strengthened, but in reality hes not good enough and not a signing that will help us compete for titles, which is what we should be aiming for.

persoanlly i would rather we had signed no one than wellbeck for 16m. 8m maybe just but no more.

it just gets the flip floppers off his back reinforces akbs, and distracts from the deriliction of duty that is defnce and defensive midfield (and top class striker)

do we actually have this mytchical warchest of funds? if so its even worse that its hardly been touched, if not, where the fuck does all our money go, given servicing the debt is wel under control and not a drain?

seriously where is all our money going if the warchest is a fallacy?

If Giroud hadn't got injured we would not have signed anyone. As soon as Falcao moved to Utd, Wenger did his usual last-minute bid for an unwanted player.

Never, ever in for Reus.

Not sure how much truth there is in that number but I don't think it was all available for transfers etc. I imagine that any football club, just like any business, needs a decent amount of working capital too.

Where did the number come from Chippy? Was it Arsenal themselves? If so they are fucking idiots for making it known to anyone.

Of course it is Arsenal themselves. As a public company they have to publish their accounts and they are all on the website.

http://www.arsenal.com/the-club/corpora ... al-results

Look at page 23 of Nov 2013 results, item 13. Black and white.

Of course it is not all available. About £25m is a requirement to be held to cover debt financing. Some of the rest would be needed as prudent planning, but it still leaves the best part of £100m gathering dust. :(

So Wenker compared the transfer deadline day to playing poker..........
I reckon that makes him a busted flush.

Utterly moronic to only have 6 defenders across our first team and no decent defensive midfielder.

:banghead: :banghead:
Wenker out.
