THE FRANKSAV MUSIC THREAD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

I know I often recommend things on this thread, but even if Sinatra isn't your cup of rosie, this is a fine, fine programme

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... tra_Sings/

Even if you only get to listen to 'It Was A Very Good Year' (starts at 9.29 minutes in) pure poetry, a rare opportunity to actually see and hear him recording in the studio, this particular 'take' went on to be the one we hear on albums and Cd's...a Beautiful Song. I know he was something of an unpleasant human - a racist and treating women badly and his links with the Mafia, whom it is reported saved his career (Godfather 1 hints very strongly at that - though it could never be publicly voiced/proven) - but the uniqueness of his voice cannot be denied and his 'timing' is probably what makes him one of the greats. 8)

ps: Only available in the UK (Don't blame me ! ) it expires on Saturday 7th July.

edit: afterthought, it often seems that those who have been 'gifted' with a remarkable talent - Football player/Singer/Artist etc - also have a very (active) dark side to them...strange huh!? :rubchin:

The Sixteen: Miserere.

For me this is beyond description, there is also this live version, but some of the high notes can be too much, due to the acoustics of the (echoey) venue, but still wonderful.

Cannot peruse such a distinguished music thread without venting my anger that Fairytale of New York never made it to Number 1. Even after Kirsty MacColl lost a butt-off with a speedboat.

If Ole Blue Eyes was still about...you'd be facing an Offer You Couldn't refuse!.

Don't mess with the Ninja's and they won't mess with you...well not too much..until of course they change their minds and decide to WHACK You!. 8)
