I think I get what your saying Augie, Viera was powerfull in a way Bergkamp was powerfull, bendtner is big but he is not drogba, I think some of it comes down to steele, agression and aceleration as well as actual size.

I'm sure he'll end up at the Arsenal (if his choice is AFC or Spurs, it's not much of a decision really is it, chances are Spurs will be overtaken by City before long and that'll be his CL career over). You still need a keeper obviously, and maybe another centre back, but with Cole you would definitely be getting near to being good enough to have a good title challenge, as long as you can keep the key players fit of course

I suppose it depends who City can bring in (will they actually get good players who give a fuck, or will they get "big names" who are simply here for the huge pay cheque). Thing is though, Wenger has done well at managing to keep the Arsenal there and thereabouts despite not being able (or not being willing) to spend big. Whilst he has kept you up there, Liverpool have fucked themselves financially and, without the CL and money associated with it next year, it could be a good while before they are back up there. Very little money, and two of the players who have been very good for them over the years (Carragher and Gerrard) arent far off needing to be replaced. I wouldnt expect them to trouble you for a few seasons
All this means that, even if City can get it right and overtake the arsenal (who with every passing season are paying off more and more of the stadium), you would still be in the top 4, and hence would still be getting CL football. I think this will be a major consideration for Cole. Plus, he rightly sees himself as a big player, would he really opt for one of the perennial also rans when there is interest from one of the biggest clubs in Europe? I just cant see it myself tbh, certainly not unless Spurs offer him an absolute shit load of money (and by all accounts Spurs arent exactly flush with cash either, although i realise the potential CL money will change that a little bit)

Man City are still a risky outfit to join imo. Its still a pretty unstable club, if they have a bad start Mancini would be out and another manager in. Plus for me they still need an awful lot to be able to establish themselves. As for Spurs, they have to prove it for another season.

If he doesn't sign for us by the end of July, then we'll know he might be playing for time to see if The Spuds get CL footie or not

The Press Association wrote:"I want to have a couple of weeks off, want to sort my future out as soon as possible, go on holiday with my family. Next season I want to have a fantastic season for England and whatever club I am out.
"The next contract I sign will be a footballing decision. I want to play in a more central position. I want a manager who has faith in me and I'm talking about club football here.
"It is a big decision for me and my family but I'm open to anything at the moment. I have purposely not spoken to anyone while I've been here because that wouldn't be fair on England.
"My phone has been turned off but now I want to sort it all out."
Sounds a bit like Tottenham might be his destination, what do you guys read into these comments? This is the first time he has spoken about his future... I fear Harry Redknapp might be the decisive factor...

Twitchy's welcome to him if it means we pay him a huge wage that should be spent on bringing in a good partner for Song, a decent defender and a quality keeper.
He should be a player we get as well as the others, not instead of. Besides he's not worth what the Chavs say he wants.
