They are not interested in taking the necessary steps to strengthen the squad and improve our chances of winning trophies. Good for him for saying what he said. Wenger and Gazidis and the rest of the Board are a disgrace. Let's hope the fans who still believe in this shambolic regime finally wake up to reality. I utterly despise the people that run our Club at the moment. Of course they made him stay quiet until the season ticket renewals rolled in.
Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.

Yes we lack ambition etc etc, I agree with all that but as far as I'm concerned we stood by this guy when he could barely string 3 games together over a seven year period and this is how he repays us? He can drop all the patronising shite about loving the fans too, that winds me right up.
Now its time to make sure Wenger follows him out the door.

I actually find it insulting to the club to be honest.
As for his statement. I have read all the comments posted since and am slightly taken back at people's view that this is his actual reason for 'leaving' i.e. He is leaving because of a difference in vision for the club.
He is hardly going to issue a statement stating that he would prefer to earn 200k a week sitting on a bench in Manchester is he ?
Would also be worried about what this does for Walcott as well as I would like him to stay and fulfill the undoubted potential he has.
The signings of Giroud and Pod are good but we know also need a top class striker to add to our squad.
Thanks for the memories RVP, you could have shown a bit more class than reporting in this way, NEXT.

A TV interview?
Would that be any different.
I think his statement is fascinating and far franker than what others have done, more respectful than Nasri's.

'As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the boss and Mr Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.' RVP
OUCH

I just find it disrespectful that the club was not aware of this statement and I felt he owed us that.
Am not in any way saying that the statement is not interesting but there are still questions to be answered because of it and may lead to the club not getting market value for him.
Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
You can just imagine Beavis and Butthead pleading with RVP not to announce anything until the customers had forked out for season tickets. We are the selling club that just keeps selling.

Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
I hope we get sweet nothing.......Fuck all........... Losing our captain last year could have been said to be unfortunate but losing another the following year is not only careless but criminal.Who's fault is that that's the question we should be asking. Its certainly not RvP's cause he should never had run into the last 2 years of his contract. Fingers must firmly be pointed at the board.Vinny1967 wrote:............it and may lead to the club not getting market value for him.
Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
So there going to make him see out the last year?Club Statement: Robin van Persie
Arsenal Football Club has issued the following statement with regard to Robin van Persie's future:
" We have to respect Robin's decision not to renew his contract. Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfil his commitments to the Club.
"We are planning with ambition and confidence for next season with Arsenal's best interests in mind."
Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
You're right in this respect because when we needed him when Cesc was still here and we still a good outfit, he was injured, always injured, one season and he is off.LDB wrote:Yes we lack ambition etc etc, I agree with all that but as far as I'm concerned we stood by this guy when he could barely string 3 games together over a seven year period and this is how he repays us? But when you take RVP out the picture, why would any player who desires success and trophies want to play for Arsenal.
Re: Van Persie saga, officially not extending contract.
We were here before RvP .........We were here before Wenker...........We were here before ALL "The grass is greener" money grabbing players that have since come and gone.......
We are THE ARSENAL .........
We are THE ARSENAL .........

They say they are, until it gets to August 28th and the fact that a £25m player is about to walk for nothing hits home. Kroenke & money obssessed board force the sale, we sell him on August 30th with no time left to replace. Welcome to the Arsenal summer transfer circus.HashKads wrote:So there going to make him see out the last year?Club Statement: Robin van Persie
