As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Look at the players he's tried there that have supposedly had a bad time of it here - Arshavin, Ozil, Podolski - not a defensive bone in their body but the man who has worked in football for 30 years persisted with playing them in a system that demanded defensive work to cover our all our attacking full backs
Dont forget Mr Wonderful himself, Nicky Bentner was ruined by Wenger too by continually playing him left wing.

He even stuck the Great Abou out there
Lets not forget the days of Ramsey on the right. I know he can defend but he has no pace and can't beat a man.

I didn't see anything to convince me that fitting Ozil on the left wing around Cazorla is going to work for us. Fine at home to shit teams. But not going to work long term.

Quality interplay with Sanchez and Carzola was a joy to watch
Thought ozil was pure class alongside Carzola. Dare I say that I felt Alexis was a bit below ozil and carzola in class today, and a lot of arsenal forward play faltered at his feet. Whilst Giroud was good we need a top quality striker to feed off ozil and carzola, cavani, suarez and Rooney would hit 40 goals with those two behind him.
^ Yes,Sanchez has been struggling a bit lately due to fatigue/injury but he showed signs of life yesterday. He should be back to his best by the time Monaco roll into town - that's when we'll really need him.

I agree. Boro sat back and let us play and when Ozil has time and space he's great to watch, but he still lopes around a bit too much for me, and even yesterday he was dispossessed by players with more urgency.
He didn't provide any cover for his FB. Not a problem against Boro, a massive problem against the Scum.

It was Welbeck, not Ozil who failed to adequately cover his FB against Tottenham. Bellerin is who was targeted and he plays on the right - that's not Ozil's side of the pitch.
To be fair I thought Ozil tracked back a fair amount against Spurs - not that he's any good at it - which meant he did fuck all going forward after his goal.
Ludicrous to effectively ask him to do left wing-back. You wouldn't ask a player like Silva or Iniesta to do it, it's fucking insane. If Wenger wants someone on the left who is going to babysit Monreal and then expect them to somehow still offer an attacking threat he may as well play Gibbs there as at least he will bomb back and forth, not the likes of Ozil and Podolski.
