Think the ripples of that Luiz deal are starting to be felt already.

Start of the week Shaw to Manure looked pretty much a done deal , Evra would be released then today Evra's given a new one year deal and now this

Those scummy chavs have previous for hoovering up players so no one else gets them. The David Luiz money plus Mata money in January can pay for a Luke Shaw and a Diego Costa

No way Luiz is worth anywhere near that but typical PSG to sign a show pony who would rather stroll around like cock of the walk than do his job properly.

Fuck Chelsea but it would be hilarious if they pipped United to Shaw: all this talk about them becoming a force again and being armed with 150 million, etc. Their top target Kroos isn't coming, Fabregas is unlikely to happen due to us, and now Shaw could collapse as well.

Their rebulding project isn't quite going to plan is it? They're now in for James McCarthy, think they've found their level with him. Talk about a reality check.

Personally I would rather good players join manure instead of joining the chavski rent boys

No way.

Chelsea are already a certainty to finish in the top 4 - if United don't get adequate players in, they could miss out again.

The less teams competing for top 4, the better: if Wenger doesn't make the necessary signings we could easily drop out.

Agreed. If United miss out on top 4, as discussed in the thread dedicated to them, they could do a Leeds.

Lars Bender out of the World Cup and apparently sidelined for three months. Means we're even less like to pursue him now if we were at all inclined in the first place.

You're joking!! That means we're REALLY interested in him now, well worth knocking a couple of million off the asking price, be like Wonga going into an antiques shop and finding a piece of French pottery with a big chip and a crack in it and buying it for a couple of quid off the £2000 asking price!!

We could easily get him and turn that 3 months on the sidelines into 8 months!! :barscarf: :barscarf:

You sure ?? We signed a player with a broken back last january so I wouldnt rule out a player based on a simple three month absence

I have to admit, that is stupid money for a limited defender. He isn't good enough at centreback and he is ok as a defensive midfielder, but £40 million for that?

Load of decent backup goalkeepers on the market. I wouldn't mind taking Schwarzer for a year as well as a coaching role. He's always been a good keeper that never really got a chance at a top club.

Luiz would have been perfect and Wenger should try to hijack the deal. I have seen him live on lots of occasions this season and he is just what we need in centre mid, attacking or defensive, as he wins possession and moves the ball forward - and he can slot well at centre back. Also, he shoots at goal from outside the box (though I know this is banned at Arsenal). Watch him in Brazil if he gets in the team - £40m isn't so much in football terms these days, for a really top player. I know it is sacrilege to say it but I would take him over Cesc any day...
