One of the problems for Emery is the ridiculous PL scheduling. No not the fact that we had to play City and Chelsea first up, but the fact that in the next month we only get to play 2 more PL games.

The PL has such a slow start these days.
My local non league side has already played 5 league games!!

The fact we have and will have so few points for so long will place unnecessary pressure on Emery. Very annoying.
Good point.

Guys, let's remember he probably wanted another 2-3 players in over the summer. Not possible with our budget given.

We cannot now offload Ozil, without incurring absolutely horrendous losses! Therefore we are stuck with him certainly for now.

Remember, it will take 2-3 transfer windows before we really see the Unai Emery teams he transpires too. Therefore let's see where we are at Christmas before we nail him to the mast!

Interesting debate between Gary Neville and the Scouse spitter. I think they both make fair points but I do tend to agree more so with Neville here.

Stubborn? Stupid? Makes no difference we’ve been here before!!
Today’s team selection merely confirms my gut feeling that we’ve got the wrong man!
Don’t care what today’s result is I’m seriously concerned!

no handbrake, no mental strength, no blaming the ref, regarding today's issues, just that the players need to improve :
"The three points were very important. Today I saw good things, but also things for improve.

"It was very important for our supporters. After 1-0, the team was improving, the players, the substitute players made the difference. It was for that I am happy but there are things we must improve.

"More transition. For the second half we were speaking in the dressing room and to help more inside with two midfielders. We need the balance, in the first half we suffered more than we want.
"It is clear for us we need to improve.
he still believes the players are not performing to their potential and they can improve.

We haven't got the wrong man, we've got the wrong squad. He is merely trying to utilise what he has to its best ability. There are players that aren't suitable/good enough for his philosophy ie Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey , Mustafi plus a few others. It's still very early doors, we wanted change and it's happening. Success doesn't come overnight these days, even Guardiola got it wrong in his first season.

Personally, with the boardroom issues, I give him 3 seasons to make us competitive.

i think some people need some perspective here - we finished 6th last year, only fighting off Burnley in the last month of the season.

we won no away games in 2018, and in the whole 2017/2018 season we only scored more away goals than Huddersfield - the three teams that got relegated scored more away goals than us !

thats what Dick is working with.

its going to take time to coach these players from scratch and make discipline, timing, organization and positional awareness second nature.

Yes and I think he needs to threaten Bellerin with a crowbar before he actually realises hes is a right sided defender rather than a winger. Even Worst Ham exploited that side at times today, a simple diagonal ball in behind Bellerin, he's out the game and they are in at the heart of our defence.

That's it for me.

I doubt Allegri or Tuchel would've done any better with this lot.

Three games in. That’s all.

Think with the money he had available he made astute signings.

Think the defensive stuff has been slow as was inevitable.

Think he has made a few disappointing choices with continuing to pick Cech; Xhaka and a few others.

Difficult to get a decent handle with long breaks in September and October but we will have a decent gauge on where we are come January.

Pretty much sums it up for me too 8)

For the last few seasons our fanbase has been hugely split, and this season I expected that the vast majority would be unified in their mindset (the akb were never gonna support any other manager  ). Fans who have been calling for wenger's sackings for years (inc myself) all agreed in the summer that dick was walking into a real shitfest, and that it was gonna take at least 2 seasons (a few transfer windows) to get the squad to the required quality level and make us contenders again. I find it absolutely bizzare that SOME of those fans are now questioning/dismissing emery AFTER JUST 3 GAMES   I agree that with the players available to him cech and xhaka shouldnt be starting, but aside from that I am not sure what more he can do - the french cock left us with zero wingers in recent seasons, so how do you balance out a team with this shit squad ? Again I repeat that emery took over a shite squad that is gonna need a massive overhaul and will need the time to sort it - please accept that and get on board with it

My biggest gripe so far has been team selection. He’s trying to play a certain way but picking a team who in the most part are incapable of it. I also don’t see any sign of this pressing game he’s trying to implement. Today was as lethargic as any game under Wanka last season.

It’s all well and good praising him in the first two games for whipping off Xhaka for being complete shit but the flip side is that he’s started him in all three games. Baffling stuff, the guy is one of the worst I’ve ever seen in red and white. As others have said I only hope the contract extension was given to try and get a better fee if some club is insane enough to make an offer.

If he wants to play out from the back, starting with the keeper, it’s insanity to play Cech. To be fair even if he wanted to go route one it’s insanity to play that helmet headed chav fuck, thought he was piss poor AGAIN for their goal today, a more agile keeper reaches that.

Bellerin is a complete liability defensively, being involved in a couple of the goals today will gloss over his terrible play at the back for the FIFA fanboys but not for me. His form has been in the shitter for a few seasons now and he simply should not be in the team.

And finally one of the two center halves needs to go - Mustafi for me (although Sokrites gives me the complete shits too) - because we are a total shambles defensively. Holding is the only other option here but he’s got to be better than these two and I’d have no issue with him starting over either.

The spine of the team is a total mess - Cech, Mustafi and Xhaka and while he’s hell bent on playing all three and leaving better players on the bench I for one and going to be concerned about what’s going on.

And before someone says it’s only been three games then I totally agree, I’m the one who said it’s going to take three fucking seasons to sort this shit out.

HOWEVER, during the summer I was delighted that the signings we made seemed to target the positions on the pitch where we were weakest.

A goalkeeper was brought in which was priority number one for me, a defensive midfielder, a right back and a center back. Fuck it I nearly came in my pants at the thought of no Cech, Xhaka, Bellerin and Mustafi stinking up the team this season yet ALL those players have kept their positions. WTF??

Of course fuck all is going to change if he keeps playing the same shit players that blighted us in past seasons. I don’t see any sign of a press, I don’t see us being even 1% better defensively - I mean we’re still getting torn apart by a simple ball over the top. I thought we’d never see shit like that ever again after Wanka got sacked but it’s still fucking happening.

Anyway it’s late and I’m fucking off to bed but let it be noted - I AM MASSIVELY CONCERNED.
