The problem isn't VAR as such but the implementation of it in the PL, it works fairly well in every other league it is used in. However as with all things PL it is run on behalf of the TV companies in the name of entertainment...... and that is where the problem lies, the TV companies want the controversy because it sells their product, it is that simple.

As i have BT and often too much time on my hands i quite often watch Bundesliga, Serie A and League Un for the entertainment value and there is nowhere near the controversy and contentious decisions in those leagues, interestingly decisions dont take anywhere near as long either added in the slight differences in certain rules and although the football may be shit the games flow much better with less interference from refs and VAR in general :rubchin:

In terms of offsides, VAR should only be used at times where there is an obvious mistake made by the officials which is spotted by the VAR officials and then the ref is informed and only when it leads to a goal, not this finger nails width bollocks everytime

Well if one of the two had to win, I guess it was best for us that the Mancs did as we have games in hand over them, although the draw would have done us better.

Mancs still have us, Chelsea and Scousers to play so a win for us tomorrow and I’d be confident of 4th but not overconfident.

A draw would have been best for us but really, the scum losing is always decent and at the end of the day, if we don't finish in the champions league places, it is imperative that the scum don't as it drives them further and further into financial ruin.

Indeed, 5th place for us would not be a disaster given that we were bottom with 0 points after 3 games and dead certs for relegation.
After two 8th place finishes, if we ended 5th and European football again would be okay 👍🏻
Denying the tiny totts a ClL place and associated revenue would be very sweet.

Huge win for United - never cheered a win for them as much as tonight!
I am hoping that finally sees of the scum challenge.

United don’t worry me because without the goals of Ronaldo they are pretty poor.

Big match v Leicester tomorrow though

2 points behind Utd with 4 games in hand, and 3 above the Scum with 2 games in hand, that will do me, we have 3 very tough games this week and still have some tough ones between now and the end of the season, but would rather be on our position than either the Mancs or the Scum

Yeah, at absolute worst, I'd take 5th this year if the scum finish below us. I still reckon we're good for third or fourth.

great result for us, draw isn't what we want, we want scum out the picture. United are far too poor to trouble top 4, if they do they it says a lot about us, as to not finish above that shower means we don't deserve it.

Watching the end of that game, you take maguire and pogba out of that team and they improve 10x over. Pogba is their xhaka - absolute shite attitude and strolling around being careless even in the 90th minute defending a 1 goal leader. complete melt. i would hate to have him. As for maguire id says rob holding is a better centre back. They are undermining themselves by playing these too as its there spine and its complete self harm. A manager who cuts them both out will be dangeorus as get a decent CB and CM instead of these to massive liabilities and a lot of their problems go away, they still have absolute averganess like shaw, wan bissassak fred, mctominay, sancho, rashford etc but those two are possibly more self harming than clive.

Would have referred a draw but United winning was the better results.

Need to win tomorrow to take the pressure of the Liverpool game. I actually think we can beat Liverpool and getting a point wouldn't be a shock. But I dont want to go into that match on the back of dropping points against Leicester.

That Liverpool game is a game we are expected to lose, but I think we could rattle Liverpool's title challenge.

Fucking hell the chavs v Newcastle game today must be the grimmest match ever played, it’s like ISIS v the SS.

Just a note that albeit it's a joke (very sketchy one) and the NC owner is a Saudi-backed takeover, it has no correlation to ISIS. The latter doesn't have a country that is related. If you made a Human Rights issue-related joke (though, why would you) then it is more 'fitting' by the standard of that comment.

I'd take a draw. Win vs a fit Liverpool team is asking a lot but if we can compete and stay in the game past 60-65' then it's game on. I don't mind losing to them through good plays. We have a habit of panicking when teams are good at high press and concede shoddy goals.

Errrr I’m not sure what you’re driving at here? Saudi Arabia executed a record 81 people yesterday. Russia have invaded a sovereign country and bombed women and children off the face of the earth.

The owners of both clubs playing today have strong links to the regimes responsible for these acts which is a fucking sad sorry state of affairs for the game in this country and how it has been all consumed by greed.

Yeah Newcastle aren’t owned by ISIS just as Russia aren’t owned by the paramilitary wing of the 1940’s German Nazi party but I suspect you know that wasn’t the point I was making.

Thanks for rating the “standard of my comment” all the same - much appreciated.

Don't worry Roddaz mate everyone else knew and understood what you were saying.

And so may I just add that your reply was a Gold Standard and Remarkably well re-strained.

It's challenging to project sad state of Affairs whilst labelling football teams as terrorism parties and paramilitary organisations linked to mass genocide. That's what confused me.

Anywhoo, don't want this to turn political, I'm sure you mean no harm and it was a passing comment. A Newcastle win and race for 3rd is open.
