SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Something nagging away at me telling me Pod is off.
Hopefully not, he definitely has a place in the team.

Don't know about you but when it was announced at the beginning of the summer that we'd be spending big i envisaged us making 3 signings...a striker around £28m, a defensive midfielder and a central defender around £23m each and a couple of typical cheapies (Sanogo&Flamini fit that bill perfectly). Never thought we'd be contemplating a £40m+ player. Still not sure it's the right thing, i really think Mario Gomez was a perfect AFC style striker avail for a bargain £17m.

We should buy Defoe....perfect for us with all the possession we get and the number of chances we create - He would score 20+ goals a season.

Sorry podolski is a lazy fucker, Giroud who has been much maligned on this forum offers the team much more value. Dunno what the pod love in is, certainly no gooner that I know rates him.

I would accept selling Pod if we replaced him with Mata on left wing :)

Surely not - be very surprised if he wasn't heavily involved in getting Ozil also, as has been stated, gives Wenger the chance to play Poldi and Walcott as strikers.
If we got DiMaria (as soft as he is) then our stacked midfield could be relieved by having Walcott and Podolski given more central striking roles. Imagine Jack, if ever fit, will be fighting for DM. Mikel most likely loser out of all this and maybe Ramsey.

FFS if we want Ba just give Chelsea the £3m.We have just spent £42m on a player yet are going back to type haggling over a £1.5m.

Any good work done today will be undone imo if Podolski goes, he is the best finisher at the club.
