The Town - ok film, although any more of listening to those Boston accents would have me also wanting to commit armed robbery

Unstoppable - Misleading film title of the year. :banghead:

Watched the mechanic the other week, kills time on a boring day. I enjoyed it, typical Jason Statham

I Robot.

I watched it last night for the second time. It's been a few years since it first came out. 2004 I think.

Hugely entertaining. :D

Preferred the old Mechanic, with Charles Bronson. A classic.

The Town is the best movie I seen last year.

The Fighter is the best movie I've seen this year.

Both top notch.

127 Hours felt like 127 years. It was the greatest load of sh!te I've ever seen.

It actually comes close to Frozen, which is, without doubt, thee worst f*cking flick ever. A f*cking insult to film-making. Total bollocks.

I seen Gran Torino for the first time recently. Absolutely tremendous. Going to the flicks to see Hereafter this week.

I also watched Moon last week. F*ck me pink, what a lump of sh!t.

I really enjoyed The American and thought Inception was pretty dire. Seen Avatar over Xmas, not bad.

Watched "Taken" recently.

Image

Familiar storyline. Hard-as-nails spy. Daughter abducted. He's going to find the criminals and kill the fuckers.

I bought the "extended harder cut". Brilliant film.

Fantastic film. The action is brilliantly shot and not far fetched like most movies

I've just watched every film nominated for this year's Academy Awards except The King's Speech and Inception, so here's my take.

Black Swan: Brilliant performance by Ms Portman, stunning really. A creepy, dark, intense ride into insanity. Deserves best actress and possibly best motion picture. 9.5/10

127 Hours: Loved it. James Franco was amazing, being as he is really the only actor in the film. Gripping, depressing, and then inspirational. Great cinematography and directing (Love Boyle's work). Deserves best actor and best director. 9.0/10

True Grit: Good performances by Bridges and the young actress, as well as Barry Pepper, in a limited role. Funny and witty. Not the Coen Bros. best work, but is still a decent film. The ending left something to be desired I thought, and the movie never reaches as high as you think it might. 8.0/10

The Fighter: Brilliant performance by Christian Bale as a washed up boxer and crack head. Amy Adams was good as always, and the woman who plays Bale's and Whalburg's mother was very good. Otherwise its mostly a typical boxing movie about an underdog. Deserves best supporting actor for Christian Bale. 8.0/10

Winter's Bone: Slowly paced, but intense thriller about the family ties of Ozarkian people in Missouri. Shows a different side of America you may or may not know about it (some Americans themselves are completely oblivious). I thought Jenifer Lawrence, who played the 17 year old heroine, was outstanding. The directing and cinematography were very well done. The atmosphere was brilliant. On any other year, Jenifer Lawrence would win best actress, but Natalie Portman steals it this year. 8.5/10

Social Network: The facebook movie. Intriguing, well-paced, good acting all around. I really have no complaints about the film. I never lost interest throughout as the way in which the story was told kept it interesting. It was probably the funniest of the films nominated this year. Possible best director award, and possible best motion picture of the year. 9.0/10

Inception is one of the best films in recent years imo.
Every Christopher Nolan picture is recommendable, especially Memento.
