Olivier Giroud - Another Alan Smith or "Le Chapman"?
Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
It was absolutely painful and embarrassing watching that carthorse lumbering around up front the other night.....no not Anichebe, the less physical mincing version wearing number 12 for us.
Jesus, in that first half when Everton were flying in they almost messed up Olivier's hair.
Nothing worse than a 6'3" powderpuff. Oh sorry there is.....a 6'3" one-footed powderpuff who shanks everything into row Z, has a 50 pence head and is one of the laziest fuckers I've seen since we dropped Arshavin

that sounds a fair and representative cross sectiondonaldo wrote:You're right look how great Squillaci Santos Chamakh and Gervinho were in their 2nd seasons.I have every faith in Giroud following in their footstepshighburyJD wrote:often players improve in their second Prem season...
in fact isn't that every single player Wenger has ever signed...?
can't think of any others

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
He will only improve if he grows some balls and uses his size better than he does.
He's a big lad and he should be bullying defenders, instead we get someone who plays the victim.

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
In fairness JD, your "cross section" was only 2 players; Drogba and Pires... so if you're accusing donaldo of not being "fair or representative", then aren't you guilty of the same?highburyJD wrote:that sounds a fair and representative cross sectiondonaldo wrote:You're right look how great Squillaci Santos Chamakh and Gervinho were in their 2nd seasons.I have every faith in Giroud following in their footstepshighburyJD wrote:often players improve in their second Prem season...

In fact, surely you're being less representative because there are surely far more players who have followed up an average season with another average season than those who have gone from average to "great"?

Don't get me wrong, I much prefer a touch of optimism to donaldo's doom and gloom, but I like consistency in an argument, that's all

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
did someone mention arguement
Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
Aw boasts he got 17 goals, well we need him to put away chances against the big teams -not the Readings etc..
Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
1 Premier League away goal all season dating all the way back to West Ham away
I'd like to see that stat defended
The bloke is the Graham Hick of the Premier League......a flat track bully quite happy to knock a couple in when we're whacking 7 past Newcastle or 5 past the Shammers........wait till the Mancs come to town and he's standing there arms outstretched bleating to the ref every time Vidic gives him a dig
I despise the type of player that he is - a big powderpuff who loves to stick it to the minnows and has no backbone whatsoever

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
Might as well have had 10 men for the other 90 minutes he was that useless again. He just looks so disinterested all the time, who the fuck does he think he is???? I know he's put in some pretty turgid home performances but his away record of 1 goal and 2 assists in 16 PL games, and his complete apathy against West Brom and Fulham in particular, make me wonder why he doesn't seem to fancy it when we play away????
At least he's banned for 3 games now though, can't tell you how delighted I am with that.
Although wouldn't be surprised if Wenger started FOrehead up top

Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
He's been dreadful recently, so 3 games without him will probably have very little significance on our battle for top 4.
Theo, Podolski or - dare I say - Gervinho can hardly have less of an impact/influence on a game than Giroud in recent weeks, surely?
Personally, I think it may be a blessing in disguise.

to be fair as shit as forehead is at least he runs around like a headless chicken and confuses the opposition a little unlike Giroud who is like a snail on tranquilisers,id rather have gervinho up top than le chappersnorthbank123 wrote:Might as well have had 10 men for the other 90 minutes he was that useless again. Re: Olivier Giroud and Alan Smith
i think the thread title should be changed ,as it is an insult to alan smith to be put in the same sentence as that plank.
