I thought we defended superbly last night i didnt think this team could defend like that. Kos and Djourou were superb but overall we defended better as a team!!! Clichy was awful as was Rosicky and Cesc. Cesc fucked up for the first goal but we play all this flicky, tippy, tappy shit and many on here ***** themselves stupid when it works, so you cant start knocking Cesc now it hasnt. Yet again Bendtner let us all down when he fucked up his 'Micky Thomas' moment a few mins from the end of the game we need better Arsene.....

The sending off was abysmal but we didnt have a shot on target all night and the ref cant be blamed for that!!! i think its a shame because it has given Arsene an excuse not to face up to the facts we were soundly beaten but at least its given the Wenger disciples some shreds to hang onto  What pissed me off as much as the refs decision was to see Wenger pat Bendtner on the back as he walked off the pitch at the end, Barry big bollocks cost us the match as much as the ref!!!! In the (not so) old days these were the types of games that we gloryed in backs to the wall, under-dog type games where we needed a goal and invariably got it WHL '71, Anfield '89, Copenhagen '94 step forward 21st century Arsenal with Captain Wenger and Corporal Bendtner - "it was the ref" :awnker:

Also lets not forget that Wenger started playing our 2nd string team in the group stage before we had qualified therefore fucking up 1st place and getting Barca in the knockout stage :banghead:

Now to all the people who didnt care if sp*rs got 4th place last season as 'they will go out early and it will be funny' enjoy your evening as they progress further in the competition than Mr. Knows babies

Same as last year for me with the players working a soft ref non stop and gradually breaking him down with the crowd. Cards become regular and the rest falls into their hands.
Felt proud last night as 11v11 and we had a punchers chance, even against 10 the next goal could of won it. Small margins and we needed Nic to score that chance.
But lets get real people we knew this is a monster game with the relentless pressure they bring closing the ball down. Felt proud as you could be last night, Got in at 4am and now off to work..
Win the next 13 games and we are DOUBLE WINNERS!!!!!
Whose on board :D

Yep, Double still on and I want to see the team sweating blood to win it.

We were a couple of touches from going through last night (Bendtner!).

Out played for sure but Arsenal fans know that possession means nothing if you don't score and the other team gets one chance and nicks it.

The boot was on the other foot last night (or at least Nic's was :banghead: )

Can't believe that some people on here are criticising Wenger on tactics last night. I thought he got it spot on. So what that Barca had 76% possession in the first half.....we should still have gone in 0-0 half time.

And last night we were going into the latter stages of the game with a 3-2 aggregate lead..... To me, that must prove that Wenger did something right!

Last night wasn't about us creating chances - it was about not conceding. And until that awful sending off we were doing a pretty good job of that!

I think it's time to sort out men from boys, or men from posers. The boy was outstanding...When you talk the talk like Bendtnar you must finish that cliche. One chance and he fluffed it because his first touch took the ball towards the keeper and defender. That was his moment Paul Vaessen , Mickey Thomas etc..He got it wrong and there has never been enough evidence to prove he will ever get it right on the bigger days. Chamakh is a better player but isn't flavour of the moment.. Sell Bendtnar in the Summer he believes in himself, I don't.

I like Cham but lets be 100% honest he isn’t good enough by a country mile

Sell Barry FFS please!!!

Sign a world class striker , we need it. Anyone that says we enough attacking options at the club is a fucking idiot.

Had forgotten about that. Brilliant!

Wilshere is capable of single-handedly carrying a team; but no man on this earth is capable of carrying Eboue, Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky and the rest - not even Thierry Henry.
Except a referee.. One referee could carry all of them and many more.

Eduardo scored again for Shaktar last night......still don't understand why he was allowed to leave.

Also, I think Chamakh is a better prospect that Bendtner and should be given more of a run in the team. Maybe we'll see the best of him in his 2nd season.

RVP’s 2nd booking/sending off was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. 1 second from whistle to shot! Disgraceful.

I think we have to accept that the Whores are little more than mid-90s era Man Utd as far as class (or lack thereof) goes. The surrounding of the ref and getting in his face with every incident/decision. The diving. The dirty fucker that grabbed RVP by the throat - yet escaped punishment. Dani Alves was unbelievably not booked despite following through on the man and leaving markers in with nearly every tackle.

Without a doubt they were the better team, hands down, but alot of that is down to their high impact play; they pass and move alot but when they lose possession they chase you down with 3 or 4 players very quickly. They could not have kept that tempo up for 90 minutes if we had had 11 on the pitch. It’s no coincidence that we have scored against them late on in recent games. They get tired. And if that late great ball from Jack had landed in RVP’s path rather than Bendtner’s? Well, who knows, huh?

Even though we were outplayed I still feel cheated by that result last night. UEFA should punish the ref but they won’t, they got what they wanted, the Whores are still in the CL. Disgraceful.

As for our players, after RVP went off I was quite proud of how some of them battled and gave everything, in particular young Jack. Even AA23 was back there busting tackles in the box!! And both Kos and Johan did fairly well against a relentless tide of Whores (bit like Benjy in Paris in 06!! :-P )

I thought Rosicky, Diaby and Sagna were appalling though. Diaby seems to think he is Vieira and can just take his time on the ball. Unfortunately he is lacking Paddy’s ability. And Sagna looked like a scared child out there. Rosicky just brings nothing to the table. Nothing.

Still cannot believe Cesc tried a fucking back heel on the edge of our box.... Back in the day, George Graham would have thrown a table at him in the dressing room afterwards!

My big concern now is our (probably) inevitable collapse. With the Manc Filth on Saturday in the Cup and some real banana skin PL games coming up (Scum away, Filth home and the resurgent Mousers) I have this awful feeling we will once again spiral out of all comps in a period of two weeks or so. It’s like Groundhog Season.

And alot of (maybe all of) this could have been avoided by just adding a couple of quality signings last summer and in January. No need to break the bank. Just sign a couple of experienced quality players to strengthen the squad. I’m as frustrated as a nun with a wide on! :(

Pretty much sums up everything I was going to say!

We gotta go all out for League and Cup now, no excuses there's not many games left. If we don't at least make the final or challenge for the title to the last, i'd be quite happy for Wenger to fuck off at the end of the season.

That was painful. I'm not going to read 48 pages, but clearly Barca dominated the game, and we were up against it.

Having said that, we defended really well for 47 minutes of the first half until the over-rated Fabregas gifted them the ball. This is nothing to do with skill or fitness, it's just a shit decision that would have looked bad on a Sunday morning on the marshes. If that had been (the utterly ineffective) Diaby, there would be posts on here calling for his head etc.

Amazing that Wilshere managed to stand out in a performance where no other Arsenal player was generally able to have much impact. Big shout out to Almunia, for doing his best after being dropped for so long, although looked like a *word censored* for the penalty.

Still could have won it if Bendtner's first touch had been better than crap. I have defended him in the past, but this was a moment where a big-game player would have made the opportunity count - it was terrible.

The VP thing was pathetic, but it's not the only reason that we lost. I'm not one to blame referees, and I don't want to have a small-club chip on my shoulder mentality (cf. Stoke), but this was the worst case of "UEFA wants the Barca pretty boys though" that I've seen. Utterly disgraceful and not accountable.

In summary, even though we were the worse team, we could still have sneaked through, and that's the difference between winning trophies and not. Now let's go and win the league - I have a good feeling that the annoyance factor will fire the lads up for the rest of the season, a bit like when Tony Adams was in prison.
