Re: The stinking shit transfer rumour thread

Post by mcdowell42 »

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to sign a proven shot stopper as competition for Wojciech Szczesny.

The Gunners’ goalkeeping responsibilities have been shared between Vito Mannone, Damian Martinez and Polish international Szczesny so far this season.

Wenger is understood to have concerns over the performances of all three, and is hopeful that the club can secure the signing of a proven shot stopper in January or at the end of the season.

Highly-rated Hugo Lloris and Julio Cesar were both targeted by Wenger in the summer before they were snapped up by London rivals Tottenham and QPR, while Liverpool’s Pepe Reina has been linked for several months with Wenger a long-term admirer of the Spaniard.

One rumoured target who won’t be making his way to Emirates Stadium next month is Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The Frenchman has made a succession of impressive performances for Martin O’Neill’s side this season, but the Black Cats boss is adamant that he won’t be leaving anytime soon.

“He’s been outstanding for us so far, so he’s definitely not someone we would want to see leave.

“I haven’t heard of that (the Arsenal link), but I’m not in any position to let our good players go in January”, said O’Neill.

22-year-old Szczesny has been involved in extra training sessions with goalkeeping coach Gerry Peyton in a bid to cut out his inconsistenties which include erratic distribution and inconsistent positioning.

Gunners manager Wenger admitted last week that he wants to build a British core in his Arsenal squad and Birmingham’s young English ‘keeper Jack Butland is a player who has been extensively scouted by Steve Rowley this season.

Goalkeeper names linked with Arsenal this season: Pepe Reina, Asmir Begovic, Kenneth Vermeer, Jack Butland, Michel Vorm

Some 'sources' in Germany are speculating that Holtby http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_Holtby midfielder from Schalke is linked to a possible transfer end of the season to Arsenal, he would cost no transfer fees. Bayern Munich is reported to be also in the game, so not sure.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hmmm.... so, it's eventually dawned on the old *word censored* that he requires a backup keeper, but we've actually needed one for the last season or two, he goes into this season with Mannone as backup, Santos as backup to left back and Diaby as a sort of replacement for Song.... all 3 of these were going to be useless and here we are in December with Mannone, benched, Santos, out of the scene totally and Diaby, injured... surprise surprise... Wenger knows fuck all!!!

I reckon we should go for Lampard. Free transfer and he wont demand crazy amounts. I know he's 34 but he's a pro and look at his career I cant think of 1 serious injury. The amount of games he has played is ridiculous. I think he's worth it.

Centre mid is about the one area we're strong in. He's also undoubtedly on well over £100k/w and probably around £150 k/w. He's really quite slow now and is half the player he was. Plus he's a *word censored*.

Lampard makes sense because he is not just strengthening us short-term, he is going to nurture Wilshere and give him a proper footballing education that will benefit us for years to come.

Think of what Viera did for Fabregas, what Dennis did for Robin. Both Cesc and Robin are winners, they were just given too much of a burden by greedy Wenker, but they were nurtured by the 'winner's of the previous generation.

We have no winners in our squad, they are complete bottle-jobs with no leadership from their manager and our youth will struggle with the weight on their shoulders until they are driven out of Arsenal.

Of course Wilshere can still improve on so much, but it's not the same situation at all. Fabregas didn't make his league debut until Vieira's last season, and when van Persie came he had serious problems with his attitude and also hadn't really found his position. Plus, Vieira and Bergkamp had both been at the club for years and years and were both absolute class until the day they retired. They were very much still the benchmark for young players, Lampard is miles past his best and Wilshere is already a much better player.

Wilshere broke through for Arsenal and England and established himself as a guaranteed starter (despite injury problems) in 2010/11. Amongst other things, that season he put in two tremendously mature, battling displays against the best midfield Europe has seen in decades when experienced, talented players wilted, and performed consistently in an England team under the weight of great expectation. Lampard is a spent force, and although a model pro and a 'winner' he's got next to nowt to offer us on the pitch.

What is Wilshere really going to learn from Lampard coming in and sitting on the bench? The bloke is a couple of notches below him in the England pecking order. If you've got no other argument than that he'll teach him about being a winner, how is that different from having the likes of Henry and Campbell around the training ground? Which has happened but made fuck all difference.

He would be just another playing soaking up far too much in wages and offering comparatively little on the pitch.

Don't think that we could afford to give Lampard the time he would need to lean the ropes from Jack about what being a player is all about.
He is now past it, on stupid wages and we have enough of them already thank you very much.

Would still like a destroyer to protect the defence, someone who could get physical when needed, who doesn't shirk their responsibility when the going gets tough (or if it starts to rain a bit)

I think we are all setting our sights very low aiming for Lampard or even Ba, will these players raise the bar enough at Arsenal to take us from mid table strugglers to title contenders :?:

Have we all like Wenger, accepted that we will never win the title (or anything) again :?:

We should be going all out for Falcao :barscarf:

Yes - while he's still manager.

These aren't who people ideally want to sign or pursue but for one reason or another (in fact, just one - price) they're the sort of players that we're likely to pursue.

Exactly. Chelsea seemingly don't consider him good enough anymore, yet we would seemingly be happy enough to take their cast offs because it'll save us money...

Lumptard wont come to Arsenal ,we wont pay him the money end of .
He is looking to China the US or the middle east for one last big pay day ,im sure he will get it .
All this shit about he's gutted to be leaving Chelsea is so the fans won't get on his back .
If he loved Chelsea so much he could take a pay cut like Berkamp did at Arsenal for the last 2 seasons
that's real Loyalty Franky baby !

After a bumpy few weeks then 3 wins against shit teams Wenger has reverted to his usual self.

He will do nothing like he always does in January and will ask to be judged in may ,we will get 4th possibly 3rd the virtual trophy won and then nothing will change except we dont have any more world class players to plunder and we can get rid of a few from the payroll.

We will then buy some more french based africans for a pittance pay them silly money and when found out as shit ,
they will be impossible to move on like because of their monster salary's.

Remi Garde will buy Auxerre or L'orient which will now be renamed the Arsenal acadamy .
The Walthamstow land will be converted into shitty flats like at Highbury !

We will win nothing and then Wilshere will attract a bid from Athletico Neasden of 80 million squid who will have bought their premiership status for hard cash and will win the league after a russian arms dealer buys them for 5 p and then discovers oil in north west london .

Arsenals books and balance sheets will look very rosy and u will be able to see them in 3-D coulour in the former trophy whilst buying your Delaware Hot Dogs and Fries and New Claret and of course the NEW Claret and Blue home team shirts !

Same old Arsene ,same as it ever was !
