FA Cup Final - Arsenal vs Hull

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Good luck for the PL next year.
TY, yeah I watched the ITV coverage all 5 hours of it yesterday and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

Brutal honesty from Keano as usual, Lee Dixon was biased but he does it in a subtle objective way much like any fan would be. I love ex players who are from the North London area that become on of our own, when Dixon was a player most fans supported their local sides (with the exception of liverfool and manure). You also got the impression that Tim Sherwood wanted to just let go and declare his umitigated supported for the fairer half of north london!

We did the 56th minute applause thing, which whilst in the end I can understand why some Bradford fans object to but it was a nice gesture nonetheless. Perhaps when we get to 30 years, we can now properly acknowledge how no one deserves to die at a football match, and that Bradford was as horrific as Hillsborough.

Lee Dixon isn't a norf Londoner......he is a manc that grew up supporting citeeh

Congratulations

As a City fan, it is hard to take as we were so close, but on balance, over 120 minutes you deserved it.

I am glad that it came down to football in the two hours, as, although there was more merit in one of the penalty shouts than I thought from my seat, I am sure that most would agree that you would rather score goals from open play than be defending what would always have been a marginal decision. from a Benthamite perspective, the result maximised enjoyment across the population. We were thrilled to run you close and we have our virtual trophy. I think you would have been suicidal had you lost. We can cope with the odd set back (and all City fans have their favourite worst memory, whether it is 2-0 up v Stoke in 1970 (mine), 3-0 away to 3rd div Wigan (that would have set up a home draw to L**ds) or losing at home to Hednesford Town in the really dark times).

Not that many gooners in the City end. A few went from a block down when you equalised. I hope that my club will find the source of these tickets and ban the original buyers.

Some of the press have described it as an all time classic. I find it difficult to opine sensibly on a game that I have so much invested in personally. but it was a good game but not in my view a great one. The vie from the upper tier is fantastic for formations and positional play but not so great for identifying players. That said, it is true what they say about stripes on the larger framed man through.

one of yours on one of our forums (yes it happens) felt we were caught out by suddenly being 2-0 up in a game that we had set out just to still be in after 70 minutes. I didn't see it like that. In the game at the KC, we set off very hard and you had to wait until we blew ourselves out. The same game plan this time, but we scored the two goals as well. All around me, we agreed that another goal was needed, as you had essentially a full game to score two, which was probably the mean expected number of goals. Bruce jnr's effort was perhaps the best chance.

Despite some the arrogance, especially those folk standing on the bridge above the entrance to Wembley Park (had they actually been to the game), every gooner I spoke to on the way up and back was exceptionally respectful. Topics included (inevitably) Phil Brown, the Tiger rebrand, whether Terry Neill was still alive (on the way there obviously), Delia Smith and her religious beliefs and village cricket teas.

I hope that you will agree that everyone in Hull and the East Riding is right to be so proud of their team and their fans' efforts. A fantastic weekend

I know this is an Arsenal board, and you are entitled to your own views, I am hoping that Saturday showed that are not facking norven mankies, cave dwellers, ferret owners or any of the other insinuations made here.

And one final small point, I saw one post referring to us as being from Humberside - it was abolished years ago. You would scarcely sound credible if you referred to places being in the Soviet Union, in Ceylon or british East Africa. Hull is in East Yorkshire.

Good luck - same time next year?

Same time next year would indeed be good, thanks for your words.

It was one of the best finals for years really, some have been cagey borefests but not this one.
Glad that there wasnt much seemingly touted tickets at your end, there must have been a great deal touted in the Club Wembley area.

LOL re Humberside, you are on the side of The Humber though are you not?

Couldn't be bothered to read all that. Anyone care to sum up what the cave dweller from Humberside was rambling on about?

I seem to remember a smiths song with "Humberside" in it. Or am I still a bit pissed? (Yes, I am   )

I think if Hull had gone 3-0 up, it would have been extremely difficult.

And if anyone was taking the piss out of the Hull fans on the way back to the station, then they're morons and clearly don't go to the game.

When we got onto cricket teas via Delia Smith, one of my gooner pals said "facking hell, mate, you're more middle class that we are"

Are yes,we are on one bank of the Humber, but on both banks of the River Hull, which could make us Hullsiders, but that would be equally as stupid.

Slightly disrespectful there mate.
It was worth reading, but not at all agreeable in every aspect.

I am off now. I respect this as an Arsenal forum, but there is nothing as dull as a meeting where everyone agrees with everyone else so I may jump in from time to time.

In the meantime.

You have got a great manager there. ........

I imagine it was a pretty good final for the neutral, without being an absolute barnstorming classic it was very interesting, plenty of goals and drama and the dynamic was completely different to what anybody could have expected.

It's easy to say Hull scored too early but other than Cazorla's magic we created nothing first half - I think if wed have gone in 2-0 down it would have ended differently. As it was with only the one goal to get we didn't have to panic and to be fair I thought we kept our composure well and it paid dividends. Although the first 20 mins of the second half were uneventful it felt like we were starting to turn the screw a bit and I think had we not equalised when we did we would have created plenty of chances to do so in the last 20 minutes.

No one agrees on here, with the exception that no one of relevance is coming in the transfer window, that our manager will earn more zillions and that Mouiniho Chavski The mousers and Manure are worthy only of mention to slate them, its a mad house
