Started every league mach for a Villareal side that have let in the least goals in La Liga outside Real/Barca. Held Atletico scoreless and Barca to one goal. Not bad.rigsby wrote:Villareal are incredibly solid at the back. Not seen much of him though.

Re: The January Transfer Rumours Thread
According to sky his buy out clause is15m,can't see Wenger spending tht on a defender after splashing out approx 26m on chambers and debuchy.
Re: The January Transfer Rumours Thread
what's the point (assuming the story is true
) if he can't get a work permit?

Beating city at this time is the worst thing to happen - he will think he is right and the squad is brilliant and we don't need anything else to compete. Sky will be reporting lights out at the arsenal training ground on deadline day

We could lend him out season after season to gain experience then let his contract run out ?Sam59 wrote:what's the point (assuming the story is true) if he can't get a work permit?

It only takes two years for a South American to naturalise in Spain, after which time they can apply for a passport.Sam59 wrote:what's the point (assuming the story is true) if he can't get a work permit?
So he could be bought and then loaned back to a Spanish club. Not much use if we need him now. Mind you, these work permit clauses are fucking bollocks anyway; how the fuck did Will.I.An and Fernandinho get permits? They had about five caps between them prior to moving to England.
Money talks.

I don't know the exact rules but countries are weighted according to their FIFA ranking, so a player with 5 Brazil caps would be worth more than 50 from Fiji, and appeals usually seem to be successful.

Willian was signed using the 'exceptional talent' clause so it didnt matter he hadnt played in 75% of Brazils competitive matches in the two years prior to signing.
I'm not entirely sure how foolproof this exceptional talent thing is though, it's how we managed to sign Denilson....

Winston Reid might be coming. Can hardly contain my excitement!

Re: The January Transfer Rumours Thread
Reid is a handy defender, good price and fits the Premier League. I'm not as against this signing as many others. West Ham have been flying this year.
Re: The January Transfer Rumours Thread
this guy is ok,if he was at Barca right now we'd be creaming over the thought of signing him, there seems to be a lot of interest from other clubs too,at the right price he may be useful, lets face it would you rather have him or monreal playing CB,its the lesser of the two evils and with wenkers track record of recruiting defenders hed be one of the best we could expectrigsby wrote:Reid is a handy defender, good price and fits the Premier League. I heard W.Ham have another young defender by the name of jenkinson who has been very good...perhaps we should sign him as well!

What price though rigsby ? It would appear that their price is considerably different than our's and that (yet again) seems to be the problem. If he was only gonna cost around the £4m mark then I would be on board with that, but if his price was £8m then I don't know if he would be worth that.
Have to say that I think that the shammers would be mad to sell for £4m-£5m because they would stand to earn that much and more if they made europe

By that name, I'd expect Roma to snap him up in an instant.mcdowell42 wrote:Villarreal centre-half Gabriel Paulist, says his agent is in talks with #Arsenal over a possible January transfer to the Gunners. [Guardian]
