Nos89 that's probably 80m+ for a number of pretty average players.

Whilst we do need a bit more strength in depth in areas, it's real quality that we need more. We don't want to do the same as Spurs and Liverpool and buy a load of average players and end up short on quality (as we are now), or like City did when the oil money first came on the scene signing the likes of Barry etc to get them into the top 4 before then having to sign a whole new side f better players to take them to title challengers level.

Hopefully there are some more defenders like Gabriel we can pinch off one of the Spanish no-mark teams, or a bloke playing in Ligue 1 who's scored a dozen goals against absolute dross to save us from dizzying prices and ensure the £150m warchest carries on earning 0.5pc interest in the bank

Honestly, if you thought previous transfer windows were frustrating then wait for this one as Pep, Klopp, Conte, Ranieri, Pochettino and Co all go transfer mad, while our sad, old plodding Grandad fucks about on French TV giving his 'expert views' and leaves Dumb and Dumber to fuck up another transfer window that will see us fall even further behind.

Hopefully we can pinch Carrick on a free - after all he looked so dynamic in that midfield today he couldn't have failed to impress TO1AW

I'd disagree as I'd put van Dijk and Williams (a consistent performer in the Premier league) ahead of Kos, BFG and Gabriel. Forster has the best 10 years ahead of him still whilst Cech only has about 4-5 at best. Lukaku is a better player up front than we currently have. Ayew would be a squad player. There are a few CB's that are better than the ones I have suggested on the continent but there is no guarantee they will do well in the Premier League look at Mangala, Otamendi - hardly a resounding success despite being the best on the continent at the time City bought them. Dixon, Bould and Winterburn weren't exactly great players, they just worked hard together at defending under Graham. Look at Leicester Morgan (who was hopeless last season), Huth (who was written off as over the hill), Simpson (not good enough for Newcastle) not the best in the world, but working hard together have become an impenetrable unit.

Fair enough with the CBs - I've made the same point in another thread as even the best CBs from abroad take a while to acclimatise. Remember how awful Vidic was. Enough fucking about with speculative forays into Ligue 1 etc.

Forster is a reliable enough keeper who I would take if we were on the lookout but whilst we have Cech I wouldn't go for him. There are always keepers of that sort of ability available at lesser clubs.

Wouldn't go near Ayew though and Lukaku would realistically be 35m for a good forward option but not the sort of striker who is going to spearhead a title charge in my opinion.

Van Dijk was available for ages for the princely sum of around 6m, and better than everything we had at the time and still have now with the exception of Koscielny.

Trouble is , it has now got to the point where we need at least 6 players to make the squad anywhere near half decent.

We have Cech, Ozil and Sanchez (though it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if the latter 2 jumped ship this summer).. Iwobi is promising - as is campbell - but still 2 - 3 seasons of being good /experienced enough...and Elneny? - well the jury is still out...

We need to off-load wally, arteta, capt stoopid, mert, gab, gibbs, ramsey, giroud and the Ox- Though I might be tempted to keep the Ox if we had a better manager as I believe he has the talent.

So that's 6 or 7 we would HAVE TO replace just to have a decent squad. Even then £200 million - even if Clueless dared spend it - will not be enough....Had he bought 2 quality players each transfer window...in the positions we all know are necessary, then we might stand a chance...BUT (again) Only with a different manager in charge - wenger is done...out dated and past his best and he really has lost the plot - There is No Recovery from where he has landed himself.

We need young blood - someone with tactical know how, the balls to tell wiggy this is what Must Be and this is what players I must have...and someone who would tell any prima donna's like wally & giroud and old farts like mert & arteta to sling their hook...

Even when Clueless eventually leaves - It will take anything between 4 and 8 seasons for us to regain any momentum... and that is Weger's legacy - a lovely new shiny football ground - An owner who isn't interested in progress and trophy success, just treading water and profit(*).. and a division amongst the fans that has NEVER been known before.

(*) It is strongly suggested that when the board members first considered selling their share's, that Wenger was consulted and agreed that wiggy was a good/safe option.

It is depressing beyond words....and is the result of utter mis-management - Too much power and responsibility given over to a man who is no longer able to function as a successful premiership manager.

John Stones is sure to leave Everton and I'd say him, but we already have a decent ball-playing centreback. If we had to alter the defence I'd buy someone that could actually dominate a box on defensive set pieces, might save us 10+ goals conceded in a season. Mertesacker will hang around anyway and leave June '17 on a free.

Have you seen his performances recently? We've already got Calum Chambers no need for Stones. Neither will get the defensive coaching they need to improve, so that will be a huge waste of £40m.

Guys, you're being sucked into a pointless debate. TOF won't sign what we need. We know this.

The Ozil and Sanchez deals have proved to be an aberration. He's still shopping at Lidl when we should be shopping at Harrods.

I see we're linked to a few more no-marks from Europe. Who fucking cares anymore? Nothing will change while TOF continues to stink the place out.

I am all for buying an experienced CB from the Premier League. Honestly, we do not need some big name signing, just someone who has PL experience and is solid.

We need a big name signing up front most importantly. We also need a Konte or someone as a CDM. Coq is okay, but need better. We need another solid LB because Gibbs sucks and hopefully fucks off this summer. Otherwise if they keep the same team, sign a class striker, a class CDM, and back-up LB we should be good enough to win the title.

Of course a) that'll never happen under Wenger and b) even if it did, Wenger's complete lack of tactical awareness or man managing ability would likely mean another VT finish.

Stones is the most over rated sack of shit ive ever seen.in fact ive seen nothing that even warrants him a place in the EPL,he is a championship player imho

Too be honest i'll be thankful if he doesn't waste the money this summer, we know he isn't competent and anyone who decides to come play for him either is a few cards short of a deck or a mercenary barsteward only coming for the money.

Cynical i know but lets be honest without an absolutely whopping pay deal what serious footballer who wants to win trophies would want to come and play under Wenger, we're already at risk of losing Ozil and Sanchez and the word must be out that Arsenal are not seriously interested in winning trophies by now

Can't believe we're even contemplating who we might buy this summer under this manager because it has always amounted to the same result no matter who we have bought since 2005....... :banghead:

Ham is still ham whether you buy it from Lidl or Harrods. There's no guarantee ham from Harrods is better than ham from Lidl. You're just paying extra for the brand name. City bought Fernando for £30m a Brazilian midfielder, we paid £7m for an Egyptian... There's little to no difference in quality.
