As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Always wondered how things would play out for Serge and it will be interesting to see how his career develops. Odds are at the very least that we gave him away cheaply.
Vela stands out for me more - I watched him a few times in the world cup and thought that he looked good and the player he should have been, but never did under that useless french wenker

Never understood why we let him go and certainly not for the fee we got for him.
Its amazing when you consider the duds we've had over the years. It was clear to see he had certain attributes about him. Speed, power, and an eye for a pass.

Deffo one that got away.
to me, (on occasion) he had the best first touch and spatial awareness since Bergkamp.
I think fairplay on him for agitating for a move because the ex-manager wouldn't play him.
Vela I think was always a very useful addition to have on the bench or rotate in - like Wiltord or Boa Morte.
good to see Sokratis come in - one more signing and I'm happy with this window. its a good start and the confidence boost given to Chambers and Xhaka should see them push on hopefully.
The club video showing the start of medical and conditioning training today was actually quite a good watch, good seeing something different from the club for once rather than those inanen shots of Wenger on the training ground although i get the feeling Sokratis isn't one for smiling much
I'm hoping with the new management style and the new players it will give the club more incentive to reach out to the fans with a new style of engagement, i've felt for a long time the club under Wenger has moved further and further from the fans and hopefully we'll see further change with the new regime going in the right direction
There is now just over a month left in this transfer window, and most of the squad returned to the start of pre-season training yesterday, so at what point do the club make a decision on ramsey's future ? Quite simply he will walk away on a free next summer if he doesn't sign a new contract, and as a result of that we would get a minimal transfer fee if we sold him next January. Reports are leaking out that, whilst progress has been made, there is still a distant between the two sides, so when does the club pull the trigger and tell him that we are selling cos we want a decent transfer fee ? Surely we are getting close to a deadline for this decision ?
Just didn’t understand the Gnabry farce. Had a chance around winter 2014/15 and he was excellent - fresh, direct and full of a tempo we lacked. Clearly raw but looked really promising. Tore spurs apart in the fa cup and scored a winner at Swansea.
Couldn’t chuck him out soon enough the instant the perennial underperformers Walcott and Ox were fit again. Loaned him out to Tony Pulis and left him there to rot for six months whilst Pulis refused to give him any game time and publicly tore him to shreds because of the fucking enormous chip on Pulis’ shoulder.

Agreed. If Emery supposedly wants to somewhat build the side around him then he either commits on that basis or he’s shown the door. Frankly if he reckons that the best clubs are going to be banging down our door to make him their star man then he is fucking laughing.
We’re not making him an important player then he fucks off on the cheap (or free) in 6-10 months and having Emery’s first season marred by another bullshit circus like this.
so far the only decent signing has been Leno.
Sokratis is 30 and untested but will need replacing in a couple of years time.
The Swiss guy is a has-been.
Toreirra if he comes remains to be seen would be a good signing.
nothing else is really exciting the taste buds.
c'mon Dick, get yer finger out! - I think I got that the right way round.
I don't think the signings have been 'exciting' as such, more 'pleasing', as they are signings in the areas we need them, something Wonga never did (not in his last 10 years anyway).
I don't think we can expect much in the way of exciting signings for at least a year or two as we have been left in such a shit state by you know who, it is going to take time to put right, Kranky isn't going to just throw 2-300m at the squad. What we're doing I think is trying to put together a squad to get CL footy again and then maybe we can sign some bigger names for the 40-50m mark, hence the signing of 30 somethings now, initially it is a 2 year plan. At least it looks like we are moving forward.......fuck me, what a novelty!!

Would make sense. The board have most likely told Dick to get us back in the CL as a priority and if he does then funds should be freed up for a couple of big name signings. But then this board is full of morons and self serving cùnts so who knows if they'd even honour such an agreement?

yeah, pleasing is the right word. we usually come back off our August hols to see us still being linked to players but nothing done, but he's widened the squad and there's now competition for a starting spot and many players were likely told - go impress me or....
Dick now has five weeks to put in a system that our players can be drilled into understanding and hopefully accentuates their strengths and minimizes their weaknesses - just like a proper coach, though of course he will have to explain the terms 'system', 'drills' and 'understanding' to the group...
me, I'm fascinated to see how we play early doors as the ex-manager's teams typically limped into the season. to see progress there would be nice, especially given our opening three games.
I've heard Dick has employed a group of cult busters to deprogramme our players. The term "go express yourself" now results in a quick sharp punch to the testicles of the offending speaker.
Next they will deprogramme understanding of "leetle beet neegle" and "financially doped".
