ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

According to @Gazzetta_it, Roma's first offer for Xhaka of €13m plus add-ons has been rejected by #Arsenal. Roma will return with an improved offer, which could involve Amadou Diawara in part-exchange. https://t.co/mnJm6vpWA2

When I see us linked with accepting a player in part exchange, it reminds me of the almunia deal where we accepted him as part of the deal for the dodgy passport silvino - needless to say that we got robbed on that deal to the point that we should have just let silvino go on a free
Shhhh ffs! Don't jinx it! :banghead:

Sorry Roma, My colleague augie is a cùnt. Please ignore him. Not only will we accept anything you want we will give you cash as well as Clive.

Ffs augie. :banghead:

Little dicky bird tells me we have the entire £120m Loan from Barclays to spend on players this Summer. KSE are Guarantors for the loan although it is borrowed against the Club. Not sure how FFP will work in context. So not sure if we are limited by wages etc. But in theory we have the fabled “warchest”.

£120m PLUS any income raised by sales ? Highly, highly unlikely I would suggest. We may indeed spend a total of £120m, but over half of it will be raised in sales, but we will still have to read comments about the kroenke's commitment and new energy for the club

The amount we spend and the players we buy, will largely be irrelevent if the people identifying these signings do not improve significantly on the players they choose, and unless we have a manager capable of getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal - sadly we have neither

You seem critical mate but if you offered me £50-60m to spend on transfers PLUS anything generated from player sales, I’d consider that a great result as I’m expecting much less.

Wasn't that taken out to repay the Bank of England loan?

It really shows how much faith in the current structure many of us have when we are more interested in who we get rid of as opposed to who we buy :barscarf:

I'm not sure I care enough any more to get excited for next season and I hate the feeling :rubchin:

Olympiacos are interested in signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson on a loan move. [@SdnaGr]

Only because the headline infers that the club is making £120m available to spend when it would not be the case. If the headline said that the club is making £60m available to spend on top of whatever we bring in from sales, then I would be ok with the amount available.
Problem still comes back to arteta and edu though cos I have zero faith in them

We hadn’t spent much of it so we repaid it and still have the cash from the new loan.

It's true, I'm interested in who we get rid of not who we buy.

Our funds are pathetic and our management is total garbage so I don't expect any decent transfers in.
