Arsenal are also in the hunt for Villa, with Arsene Wenger prepared to bid £16m for him - though a loan deal would also be a possibility.

Re: The stinking shit transfer rumour thread
We have players the equal of those guys, we want to be going for better than the shit we have, not heaping more shit on top! I don't think I trust Wenger with a transfer kitty anymore if I am totally honest.Dan_85 wrote:Exactly. Chelsea seemingly don't consider him good enough anymore, yet we would seemingly be happy enough to take their cast offs because it'll save us money...green gooner wrote:I think we are all setting our sights very low aiming for Lampard or even Ba, will these players raise the bar enough at Arsenal to take us from mid table strugglers to title contenders
I watched an old movie called 'Zulu' with Micheal Caine yesterday, half the Zulu nation were wearing Arsenal shirts as Weng had bought them at one time or another, cheap African shite!

Re: "The window is almost open!" Transfer Rumour thread
With January approaching and the transfer window about to open, the media and Internet frenzy regarding Arsenal transfers is beginning to heat up.
After a problematic season, there’s a real expecation (and some amount of hope), that Arsene Wenger will boost the squad to give it a good chance to finish in the top four, at least, and do something in one of the cup competitions.
As ever, he was in typically guarded form at his press conference this morning, and when asked if he could provide any update on potential targets, in particular Barcelona striker, David Villa, he said, “Any interest we have in any player has to be kept secret so I cannot come out with any names.”
He was then pressed about interest in Newcastle striker Demba Ba. “I like Demba Ba, yes,” he said, “but it is not right to speak about him because he plays against us tomorrow. If you ask ‘do we sign him?’ I say no.”
And of course there are the inevitable links with Thierry Henry. A few weeks ago it looked like it was going to happen, now the whispers are that his return last season will be his final Arsenal swansong. Arseblog News thinks this is probably for the best, but never one to close any door completely, Wenger said, ” I have not lost interest in him, he is still coming today to practise with us. I have not ruled out a move completely.”
Of course this is really just the start of it, the next month is going to speculation central, but we’ll do our best here to filter some wheat from the chaff.

I see the BBC list of transfer targets links us with several players (who inevitably we won't be interested/get):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20521275
Having seen plenty of Isco this season would love to see us sign him, whilst we are already 'blessed' in this department he looks superb and we could play him or Cazorla in the front three and the other in the middle with Jack.
The link with Mickael Landreau fits the Wenger bill given he is French/free/experienced though could just be lazy journalism.
Not seen him but Dede fits the bill if his description is correct though more likely to go to Chelsea with their Brazilian links probably.

Well you can rule out Demba Ba- ODL has spoken

Demba Ba: Arsene Wenger rules out move for Newcastle striker
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for Newcastle striker Demba Ba.
Ba, 27, has been in good form for the Magpies this season with 11 goals to add to the 16 he scored last term.
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admitted on Thursday that Ba would be sold if he did not remove the reported £7m release clause in his contract.
"I like Demba Ba, yes," said Wenger. "If you ask me 'do we sign Demba Ba?' I say no."
The Frenchman added: "I don't think [this] is the right place to speak about that, because he plays against us [on Saturday].
"I wouldn't like to put Newcastle or us or him in an uncomfortable position."
Arsenal are one of a number of clubs who have been linked with the Senegal striker who joined Newcastle on a three-year deal from West Ham in June 2011.
Meanwhile, Wenger also says he still has not ruled out re-signing French striker Thierry Henry for a third time on a short-term loan deal.
The Frenchman, who scored twice in seven appearances last season while on loan from the New York Red Bulls, has been training with the club since the end of the MLS season.
But Wenger remains hopeful about keeping Theo Walcott, whose contract expires next summer and who is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Re: "The window is almost open!" Transfer Rumour thread
I like that Wenger is one of the few managers who doesn't like to publicly speak about a player under contract at another club. I wish more managers were like that - the public tapping up of players has gone way too far. Look at the unabashed pursuit of Fabregas for one clear example. Wenger has never been much for public disclosure of his plans, especially when a player is under contract, so I wouldn't say this ENTIRELY rules out the Ba move.
However, the impression I got based on what he's saying is "we don't need another striker, Ba or otherwise". That is slightly worrisome.

He needs to start the spending spree with Fellaini and Shawcross.

Shawcross? Actually? Aside from the fact he's a *word censored* he's also fucking shite. There are plenty of 'old-school' centre halves available for much less money who are twice the players. He regularly embarrasses himself against centre-forwards of any remote calibre.

I would rather give wally walnut £1m per week than for us to sign this cheating portugese nancy boy c**t

Re: "The window is almost open!" Transfer Rumour thread
I'd happily have Nani. I reckon he's streets ahead of our other wide options. Whether his wages and/or price tag make that feasible is another matter altogether though.augie wrote:mcdowell42 wrote:http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... um=twitter

Bear in mind this is coming from a guy that doesnt think walnut is worth 75k per week much less 100k per week
But would a player playing for the biggest club in the world want to join a "wee club" from London
