The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you're going to show it at the Sunderland game, make sure you show it before kick off- it only took West Brom 5 minutes to score 2 against our useless bunch of plodders so if you wait until the 10th minute the game will probably be won and you'll look a bit daft

For maximum effect, show it in a game where you arent facing a team managed by Steve Bruce

Out of curiosity how much would a billboard outside the ground cost to have the banner posted on it or one of those mobile advertising things - that way everyone would see it and the Reich couldn't take it down.

Just imagine if it'd gone up just before kick off,

27 seconds later, whoops!! Down it goes

This would have been the perfect time to roll out that banner. 1-0 up, playing brilliantly. 1-1 from sloppy defending as usual and then under the cosh and could have conceded more.

80 minutes into the game, wenger brings on benayoun and arshavin when Park is on the bench in great form for his country and Ox who is our one player with confidence isnt even in the squad.

No fucking change of tactics, no change of formation, no new ideas, nothing has changed, no fucking clue.

I don't think this undermines the banner at all.

As an Arsenal fan, I'm so happy we won.

Yet as an Arsenal fan, I'm concerned this will paper over the cracks yet again.

Granted I'd have got egg on my face

But at the same time this win is down to one player - RVP. The defending was still shocking, the midfield looks lightweight and tactically Wenger gets it wrong week in week out persisting with the same formation.

This was a fortunate win aganist a rubbish team, it's hardly like we should be enthused by the result... this one should have been a banker.

It was the get out of jail win that Arsene desperately needed and so he lives to fight another day.

As mentioned - nothing has particularly changed, on another day it could / would have been a draw or a defeat and then the boo's would ring round the stadium.

All it has done it postpone the kings demise for another time - can he last till January if we lose both matches to Marsaille ?

Irrelevant where it got to. What today's performance showed is that the sentiment contained within it is more relevant than ever.

the banner will have no effect as long as the team keeps winning.

as I just mentioned on another thread that is now 6 wins out of 7 at home.
surely the whole point of protests if you are on a losing run?

I think I am right in saying it was up for about 1 minute approx. 20 minutes before kick-off (west stand upper, near the half way line where the national flags banner is). Stewards quickly converged. I made my way from the north bank upper to have a look and express my opinion and by the time I got there it was gone.
