Emmanuel Eboue set for Arsenal axe
Arsene Wenger is ready to off-load Emmanuel Eboue as part of a major shake-up of his squad this summer.

Gunners boss Wenger is also preparing to sell off his unsettled striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

And Italian clubs AC Milan and Juventus are both interested in signing former captain William Gallas.

But Eboue is the surprise name as a potential departure after the Ivory Coast utility man recovered from being jeered by Arsenal fans earlier in the season.

Atletico Madrid are interested in taking Eboue away from the Emirates.

Ac Milan also want Adebayor while Gallas, 32 in August, may be allowed to go as he only has one year left on his contract and was stripped of the captaincy last season.

Wenger is desperate to strengthen his Gunners squad with a centre forward after yet another season without any silverware.

Arsenal have made an enquiry about Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, while they also want a midfielder and a centre half.

Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is top of their wanted list while Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia and Wolfsburg defensive midfielder Christian Genter have been watched.

Barcelona close in on Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas
Barcelona are set to make a £40million bid for Cesc Fabregas.

The newly-crowned kings of Europe have made the Arsenal captain their priority target.

Arsenal signed Fabregas from Barcelona six years ago for a bargain £750,000 as they took advantage of Spanish employment laws concerning young footballers.

Now Barca want him back.

WENGER HUNTING £12M LESCOTT

31st May 2009 By Steve Millar

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/vie ... m-Lescott/

DAVID MOYES will fight to the bitter end to keep Joleon Lescott out of Arsene Wenger’s clutches.

He will also have to fend off mega-rich Manchester City, who are prepared to break the bank for Lescott, 26, and the
Toffees’ Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta, 27.

Gunners boss Wenger is desperate to sign an experienced central defender to bring stability to his back four.

And the usually cautious Frenchman would be willing to offer around £12million to sign the classy Everton star, who joined the Blues from Wolves.

The Goodison club rate Lescott at a much higher price, somewhere in the £18m bracket.

Not that they would be willing to do business anyway, as Moyes prepares to strengthen his FA Cup Final squad, not dismantle it.

Lescott is one of Moyes’ prized possessions and he will be firmly against any attempt to snatch his cultured defender away from Goodison Park.

But that won’t stop the Arsenal chief from making his summer move, although it is clear that Moyes is under no pressure from chairman Bill Kenwright to cash in on any of his high-profi le players.

The Arsenal squad is packed with star-studded youngsters but Wenger is desperate to bring in older heads in vital positions.

Lescott would come in after firmly establishing himself as an Everton and England player of note.

He is versatile too, easily able to slot into the left-back berth.

And that has appeal for Wenger, who needs players who can switch positions comfortably at the back.

I know it is the daily star but i hope this is true. he would be my number 1 prioirty in the summer. If he was to cost £18m then so be it. Tall, good in the air, good in both boxes can play left back and center back, got premiership experience.

I have mooted lescott as a potentially great signing for some time now but I was particularly underwhelmed by his performance yesterday :o In posession he looked scared shitless and I thought that even defensively yobo looked the better player (not that is anything to be ashamed of cos yobo looked quality up until the last 18 months or so). Maybe alongside gallas or toure he would look more assured but wenger likes his centre halves to be comfortable with the ball at their feet and sadly I did not think that lescott did yesterday :(

Gunners target keen, but says there has been no contact

[quote]Reported Arsenal target Thomas Vermaelen has admitted that a move to The Premier League would be a dream come true, but that he is yet to receive any official approach from The Gunners or any other English club.

The 23-year-old’s form for Ajax this season has attracted high praise, with the Belgium international being roundly praised in Holland for his displays for the Amsterdam outfit.

Predictably, his performances have led to speculation over his future, with Arsene Wenger believed to be an admirer of the 21-times capped centre-back.

Despite the hype Vermaelen is concentrating on his duties with Belgium in the Far East, where he is playing in the Kirin Cup, and says he has had no contact with regards to a move anywhere.

“I do not know much,â€

Cesc fancies Alonso link-up at Gunners

[quote]Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged manager Arsene Wenger to consider a summer move for Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

The Spain international’s future at Anfield has been the subject of much speculation over the past year, with Reds boss Rafa Benitez being moved to publicly declare his desire to keep Alonso at the club this summer.

Fabregas’ international team-mate had looked set for an exit last year, but ended up staying at Liverpool and has been a pivotal player for the club this season.

Despite his form rumours have again surfaced linking Alonso with a move, and Fabregas would love to see the pass-master join him at Emirates Stadium.

Whether Liverpool would be willing to sell to a main rival like Arsenal remains to be seen, as does Wenger’s spending range with Alonso’s price tag mooted at £10 million-plus.

However, those factors have not entered into Fabregas’ thought process and The Gunners man would be delighted to see Wenger make a move.

He said: “We have lost big players, but the boss knows what he is doing.

“The days of signing a new player aren’t finished.

“We need someone in the middle to make competition and make a difference, plus give us a new dimension.

“I think that is all we need. The rest is perfect.

“Xabi would be great. He’s experienced and can score goals. I’m sure the boss is aware of that fact.â€

A fat lot of good a ball-playing CH has done us since Campbell left. What we need is a no-nonsense put it in row z defender who is good in the air. :teeth:

Lescott is one of the worst CB we could buy, hangeland is a much better player all round. Lescott consistantly make 2-3 big mistakes per game we don't need another player who makes stupid mistakes.
