now that we signed a striker and a couple of defenders, it's pretty obvious that almost all of our weaknesses from last season have been addressed. however, the fact that wenger made a bid for schwarzer shows you that he also realises that we must improve our goalkeeping situation.

now, if we are well financially and we spent LESS THAN TEN FUCKING MILLION POUNDS NET IN THIS WINDOW FFS, why doesn't he address the only weakness left in the squad, and one that can cost you so many points during a season?

i don't give a fuck about schwarzer or buffon or whoever. i just wanted a new, improved keeper, and you MUST agree with me that there are at least 20 keepers out there who are better than almunia.

now, will you tell me that a club who's supposedly cash rich, that plays attractive football and champions league every season, isn't able to convince ONE of those clubs and keeper to agree a deal?

it's a massive weakness in our squad, and it will continue to be so for another season.

i'm shocked.
As I said, I agree that Almunia isn't good enough.

My only guess is that there are no available GK's in the market, that fits the club in terms of fee and wages.
every keeper is in the market, daniel. it's up to how well you bid for him. and if we really had 30M to spend (and some people said we had 40M), how the fuck we spent less than 10 and kept with the worst problem of our squad? how is that good business?

it's unnaceptable. end of.
We are in a market of our own making

Please tell me how he can be called anything but incompetent with regards to his 'attempt' to lure Schwarzer this summer?

He was made to look a fool by offering the same deal to Fulham that they had already rejected a few weeks earlier and he was made to look a fool by being blinkered and not having a plan B should it be that Schwarzer was unobtainable.

He has also buggered the confidence of two already very fragile goalkeepers already at the club with his intent to buy and statements such as "there is no No. 1 at the club" and "Almunia was never my long term No.1" now look fucking daft as he has dome nothing to rectify these areas of concern!

Arsene has been made to look a fucking twat by the mighty Fulham and he should be ashamed of how he has handled affairs with regards to a goalkeeper this summer.

Schwarzer is 37, he's not the best in the league, not at the right price, so if Wenger finds this deal as a bad one, why should he make it.

I agree Almunia is not good enough, but if Wenger thinks signing Schwarzer isn't going to get this club forward, and can't find another keeper with attributes sufficient to Arsenal (Prem experince, price, age), than I can understand why we didn't sign one.
Finally, a voice of reason. You "fans" need to wake up. You cant just sign someone, you need 2 partys who are willing to do a deal, Wenger has done superb in the transfer market this summer, he has obviously been after a keeper, if we dont sign one, then we dont sign one, we get behind Almunia and support our club. Not sarcastically applaud everytime our keepers do something good, not make them feel the negativity when there in goal for us. Maybe if they recieved some support we might get the best out of them.

Wenger kept Fabregas at this club, where other managers have failed to keep there better players from the lure of Spain. He's signed a champions league quality striker, and 2 center backs where needed strengthening. Get over yourselfs
us 'fans' want to see our team winning things and competing, not watching the others get even further ahead of us and battering us every time we play them. even fucking spuds are catching up to us now :banghead:. I fuckign hate it when you sheep who blindly follow AW in whatever decision he makes, like some kind of fucking messiah, treat everyone who dares to defy him as a non-fan. I think you need to get over it you shallow fucker. Each motherfucking season since the start of 06/07 has been a fucking repeat, same old fucking excuses and bullshit. I actually HATE AW, he can go fuck himself and never return, he should've been sacked two fucking years ago. TWAT.

It's times like these when the fans need to actually fucking protest, remember Newcastle fans demanding their board be sacked a few years ago outside their stadium, and another club before them. I know their situation was more drastic than ours, but we're fucking slipping even further behind and AW is doing fuck all about it. FUCK OFF YOU IRRITATING *word censored*!

Here is another example of the all-important wage structure torpedoing us.

Let's be clear no one one was willing to part with a top keeper at the money we were willing to pay.

But the reality is had the wage structure not torpedoed any such possibilities in advance, we might well have been able to afford to pursue a mre expensive keeper.

And that is exactly ho0w the wage structure is meant to work. It is meant to make it impossible or pointless to spend more than we wre willing to spend. If you'll never sigbn Lloris why bother actually bidding for him right?

But it still allows the Board to continue to disingenuously claim "money is available to spend". It certainly is but it appears more and more that the Board has rigged it so it won't be, but in a way that that lets them get away with claiming otherwise.

Ozil is not a keeper.Still the player we talked about at 15-25 million actually went to Real Madrid for 12-13 million which clearly we could afford. But could we match match his wages? Would we? What do you think?

LOL Great comparison, yeah Newcastle demanded there board should be sacked, then they got relegated, great idea! I dont blindly follow Wenger, im just looking at the bigger picture, yes i did want a new keeper, is it the end of the world that we dont have one? No. I have never ever said that anyone on the forum is a non fan so dont try and make up bollocks like that. I dont understand how you can feel so much hatred towards OUR ARSENAL MANAGER, the same bloke who has consistantly helped us to compete amoungst the best teams in the world. No we have not won a trophy in 5 years, but we do have a very very healthy club, and we will win things again, and we are going places and improving. Players like Diaby, Song, Walcott, Vela are looking better than ever. You obviously have your frustrations but do you not believe your going a little over the top personally insulting OUR manager?

who's that then? 56 goals in 230 french league appearances does not scream quality to me...not to mention wenger was un-willing to pay for him when we desperately needed him when all of our strikers were injured

as for the defenders...don't know about squacalli (sp?) but kosy doesn't exactly have a proven record does he? 1 season in top flight (french) football which lets be honest might as well be the SPL

these transfers hardly inspire confidence...

can only hope i'm wrong and they come good.
Emmanuel Adebayor 33 goals in 123 French League appearances.. Went on to score 30 goals in a season for us. Didier Drogba 144 appearances in French football 50 goals before he joined Chelsea.

Chamakh has also scored 16 goals in his previous 2 seasons.
you can't use drogba, look at how strong chelsea's squad is.

adebayor? you mean the man affectionately known as 'barn door the offside'?

and as for that last comment...16 goals in a season? did you forget what side you was on in this discussion? and actually it was 10 last year and 13 the year before...hardly champions league quality.

In all competitions he scored 16 goals, in fact he scored 5 goals in 9 champions league games last season.. so yes he is champions league quality.
