If you have two sets of white kids in a small town in the sticks - one who listen to white rock music and the other who listen to hip hop, the fact that the rock fans call the hip hop fans 'niggers' and the hip hop fans are ok with that and call themselves the 'niggers' does not take anything away from the fact that it is a racially offensive term and black people find the word 'nigger' offensive.
That hypothetical scenerio is what is of relevance to this situation here. The word **** is offensive to Jewish people - it is racist. Arsenal's Jewish fans have every right to turn up to a game and expect not to hear it - whether you like that fact or not.

I think the crux of the issue is some of our fans are Jewish, they find "****" offensive. Why continue to offend fellow Gooners?

If you take people randomly from any part of the world and as them what a '****' is nine out of ten would say a Jew and not a Spurs fan - try looking beyond your own circle for one in a while

I think you'll find it's a bit fucking different - baring in mind that there was a systematic attempt to wipe them off the face off the earth in which racial slurs like 'juden' and '****' were part of a very strong advertising by Dr. Josef Goebells. An attempt in which 6 million (three quarters of the population of Greater London with you want a comparison) were killed in under two years.
That's not some dim and distant part of history like the Romans and the Normans - that happened 18 months before my own father was born. My own grandfather was one of the frontline British troops in the liberation of Belsen and saw the whole thing first hand.
We still have men and women in their eighties living in North London after seeking asylum after WW2 who still have their death camp number tattooed on their person.
So please do save me your PC gone mad shit - there's every chance those bringing this action are the children and grandchildren of these people.
The word '****' is not a benign terrace chant about North London rivalry to some people it is deeply deeply offensive.

Yes it does also say that the word can be taken as offensive but the facts are the vast majority of Jews do not find it offensive! **** was certainly never used as a derogatory word by the Nazi's so please do not bring that into it! I agree if I was splashing anti-semetic slogans over the local synagogue then fine call me a racist or whatever! Having a bit of fun at a football match is way way different to that! More so by the fact that the people I am calling **** is in jest at a group of people who call themselves that! I am more than aware that there is a large Jewish following at Arsenal but if it is that offensive why are more of them up in arms about this chanting that has gone on for years!

One thing is for sure there is no right answer, and i am personally heartened by the fact that everybody on here accepts that racism is wrong but we do struggle sometimes to work out what is racist and what is not.
