green's made dozens of point saving saves
I remember the ani-viduka stats showing he scores a lot in already won games
green is the positive opposite of that kind of coasting striker
Who would you like in Jan
When you judge a keeper you cannot just judge them on the amount of saves they make cos if they play for a shit club like shammers they will naturally get more saves to make. What is his concentration like when he has fcul all to do ? What is his temperment like in the really big games ? Is he the type of keeper that will command his area and have the repect of his team-mates ? Finally can he really pull off those impossible saves when it looks a certain goal ? To my mind green doesnt tick anywhere near enough boxes to be considered good enough to play for The Arsenal (which probably means aw will sign him). A few years ago I thought Richard Wright looked a great prospect for us but for some reason(maybe he just froze) he went backward for us - players need a special type of temperment to play for a big club and he clearly didnt have it
For example, Lehmann vs Man Utd 2006 The Theatre of C**ts save from Solshire.augie wrote:When you judge a keeper you cannot just judge them on the amount of saves they make cos if they play for a shit club like shammers they will naturally get more saves to make. I accept Robert Green is a decent keeper, and can certainly make good saves, but I agree with augie, he doesn't look good enough, e.g., he's weak on crosses. We should go for someone who is absolutely top-notch.
Although I'd prefer to go and get one of the world's top, top names in (for me, Casillas or Buffon), I could accept getting a lesser name IF the quality of the player were obvious. A few years ago, we almost signed Petr Cech (an inability to get him a work permit was the only obstacle) and that or one of the superstar keepers is the sort of signing we should make now (even if it means waiting till the summer and keeping Lehmann as sweet as possible in the meantime).
