Lastly, RedAction. What I have never understood is the complete change in attitude towards the club from this group. Their old website had tales of battles with the club and in many cases mocking them. If I remember rightly there was a tale of Health & Safety from the club versus downright common sense from the old RedAction. For some reason (I wonder what) the whole dynamic changed and RedAction suddenly had a link from Pravda.com to their own site which had mysteriously had a very large spring clean and all negative references were removed and replaced tales of lovely 'close working relationships'. Now I don't have anything against those who form RedAction personally but I wil say that this complete change in direction, coupled with instances such as the anti-Usmanov banners, leaves their motives open to question. As an outsider it seems that their is a fair amount of back scratching going on with the club getting a mouthpiece 'on the shop floor' and RedAction getting.......well who knows.
Like Mike I felt compelled to 'bite' on this one.
I must admit that personally I have received a DVD from the producers of the end of season DVD as a result of being interviewed on it. I have also had my 5 minutes of fame by being interviewed by various publications about events etc.
REDaction as a group have had some signed stuff generously donated by various people within the club and these have all been auctioned for the various charities of the season as we have gone along.
As for the anti-usmanov banner at the time we felt very strongly that we did not want him associated with the club and expressed that opinion. That opinion did coincide with the boards at the time as well, hence no rush to take the banner down. Personally again I have no time for Usmanov but I am sure the groups attitude has probably mellowed.
That's about the limit of the benefits, we continue the good fight mostly against stadium management, although even they have mellowed to a certain extent and we do actually find the conflicts becoming less regular.

I can vouch for that, RA kindly donated loads of signed shirts to be auctioned/raffled for the Rocky Remembered event.alanalansunderland wrote:Lastly, RedAction. Maybe I worded my piece wrong but it really wasn't about perks received or otherwise.
Really, I couldn't care less. I get a free day out here and there through work etc and so who am I to complain.
What I have never understod though is the dramatic change in direction by RedAction and I guess that confuses as well as gripes me!

Actually I had a fantastic lunch at Baring Bros the other day all freddie freemans and I think i understand a little more of whats happening in the world economy as well, although the wine might have blurred some of what I was listening too.Percy Dalton wrote:Alanalan, alanalansunderland wrote:Lastly, RedAction. I don't think we have changed direction. We have just gone back to basics. The original intention of REDaction was to encourage support for the team in the ground. We believe whilst we have an opinion on the shenanigans around the club that there are other organisations more in a postion to do things about them and we lend our support individually and sometimes collectively to those organisations.
If we feel the clubs actions, such as the hike in prices, will directly affect atmosphere issues then we will speak out and lobby hard to fight the changes. it did not work this time around but the club were left under no false impression of the COLLECTIVE contempt that the rise was held in by all the major fans groups.
