Emmanuel Frimpong will undergo further assessment on the eye injury which saw him stretchered off against Aston Villa this afternoon.
The on-loan midfielder went straight to hospital for initial assessment on the injury where an initial examination revealed no head or spinal problems.
However, the 20-year-old has a severe swelling around his eye and will need further examination to discover the extent of the problem.
No mention of broken cheekbone, so hopefully it's just swelling

Yeah, it might seem as if it doesn't matter as he's not available to us immediately, but we need him playing first team games to get him the experience that we'll hopefully benefit from in the future. If only for that reason it's kind of bad news.

Fair play to the lad, he was superb today before he got the knock. Still not sure if he's an Arsenal player, quality wise but a very good performance today from the boy.
Loses concentration sometimes, his positioning can be suspect.
Great going forward though.
He created all their chances; they crumbled as soon as he got injured.
Was by far Man of the match.
He looks way above them, but is he at Arsenal's level

You do have to remember he is 19?
The one thing he's got that sometimes means than technique. Is that passion and his spirit. I hope he makes it for Arsenal, loves his attitude.

Disagree with that augie...He needs games and if injured won't get them, although young and (relatively) inexperienced - he does show the passion and 'Guts' that so many of the present squad lack...so for me, I am hoping the injury won't keep him out, and that he gains the necessary experience (and discipline) so that when he returns next season to Arsenal..he gets to keep that wanker Song out of the team.
