As long as we stay competitive and near the top I personally will be happy.

It's not all about winning the Premiership or the CL anymore. Sadly we cannot compete with the artificially rich City, United, Chelsea, Real and Barca.

The sooner you people accept this the better. Unless we get a rich owner willing to put his own money in to Arsenal we will not win a meaningful trophy for the foreseeable future .

Spot on
it is not Wenger that is at fault it is the owners.
Usmanov = we may win something again
Kroenke = Europa league

Don't agree mate. We are told there is plenty of money available to wenger, he just wont spend it.

Besides we have 2 very rich people sitting on the board so money can't be an issue here.

exactly . I think most here have come to terms with that, the difference is we aren't competitive anymore and before a couple on here accept that neither will the zombies at the bowl. competitive in the profit making front is arsenal's main concern

Kroenke's only concern is whether people renew their season tickets

as long as they do then why should he be bothered?
I can see his point really.

I really think this has more to do with wages. The club just aren't going to pay a new player more than 100K (if that) a week + a transfer fee.

The club would rather sign a £7M-11M player and pay him 70K and hope they stay happy.

Personally, If it was managed properly, I couldn't see a MAJOR issue with giving the right new signings higher wages. Back in the Adebayor, Cesc, Nasri days I could see there might be a bit more of a problem. RVP will no doubt be given 120K+ contract offer anyway.

Well that is just not true is it?

Explain please how we managed to compete with United from like, 98-06 then? They have always been mega rich.

Explain please how up until only last season we finished above City every year and only didn't last year through us throwing away many many points on an embarassing finish to the season.

Explain please how we are currently competing with money bags Chelsea on that all important chase for 4th.

Money is half of what is going wrong with us. The quality of our squad, specifically the alarming lack of it, and how it has been able to degrade so badly since we last were able to compete with these artificially rich teams is where the real cause of our problems lie.

The club led by Wenger's vision embarked on a policy of overloading on promising youth, rewarding them with massive contracts to secure their loyalty and hoping this would enable us to challenge for the major trophies.

They were wrong, massively wrong, so much that we are now off the radar for at least the next 5 years even if we do make changes right now. But instead of admitting it and abandoning the project they make up excuses like financial fair play and living with our own means as if they are on some sort of high ground fighting the good fight against the evils of money.

And the worst thing, the worst worst thing about it all?

People are going along with it.

And still the AKB's can't work out the simple maths.....

Diaby 60k, Rosicky 50k, Denilson 50k, Almunia 40k, RVP 80k

Should be more like

Diaby 30k, Rosicky 30k, Denilson 20k, Almunia 20k, RVP 150k

we'd still save a bit of money also and we'd actually be able to get rid of shit like Denilson and Coco on those low wages.
But no, the incompetent fuckwit in charge.....I will call Wenger the Banker from now on because he cannot coach and certainly isn't a manager.....he insists on buying players respect so he remains 'loved' by all players. Wenger is a disease.

To be brutally honest we only competed with United because we got lucky with our transfer dealings of Viera, Henry and co.

Also, with only two clubs competing every year we were a far more attractive prospect to foreign players than we are today.

If you buy the most talented player you prevent them from joining the other teams. I'd like to think if City didn't get their cash injection we would have got the likes of Silva, Kompany and De Jong (probably for a much reduced price too).

So what I am saying is that without the ridiculous spending by Chelsea and City we probably would have still been challenging for the premiership every year (and probably winning it a few times too).

Chelsea are a good example of how money can get you success, but only if it is invested wisely and if you have the right man at the helm.

I completely agree that the size of the contracts given to some of our fringe players is in some instances ridiculous.

I am a supporter of the club, and I am definitely not AKB. However if you look objectively at the current state of the premiership we face a very tough task. Three of the teams we compete for the title are super rich. For the first time in ages a team with lower resources then ourselves is challenging us.

If Arsenal was a boxer it would have won its weight division every year for the past X years. *

* how many teams are in OUR weight devision is debatable  8)

I agree. However ticket prices should match this and if we have money wenger should be forced to spend.
Im not a glory hunter that only wants glory. But at the same time im not a fucking mug who wants to be cunted off by the club and wenger. and both are doing so

I think what we all want is transparency in our transfer/contract extension dealings. I personally would really want more performance related contracts handed out by the club.

What a fucking load of old shit... over the last 5 seasons he could have won the premiership at least twice, had he just spent just a little on some improvement in the January transfer window.... it wouldn't have cost the earth either... Spuds only spent 5 million during the last summer transfer window and they're now bounding away from us.... on less gates than we had at Highbury...
