Which defeat hurt you the most?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Don't get me started on that one : Henry rounded the keeper and Henchoz pushed the ball round the post, very early in the game ; We didn't even get a bloody corner, ref gave a goal kick!

For me it was the defeat at Bolton a couple of seasons ago when we had an all but faint chance of still winning the league. It was such beautiful sunny day, spent most of it in a beer garden overlooking the Pennines, and the gooners were all in good voice. Expectations were high. Then Arsenal produce what can only be described as a limp wristed performance and Bolton beat us / we rolled over 2-1. It was the manner in which Arsenal gave up the league I was absolutly gutted. I didnt say a word for 2 hours after the game and was in a very bad mood.

Then of course we had united next up at the grove and beat em 1-0 in what was quite a rousing performance. I just thought to myself, why why why why why couldnt we do that at Bolton?

1999 FA Cup Semi Final Replay. I was listening to the game on the radio, I was 17 and had started to support Arsenal about a year earlier, mainly on the basis that I played championship manager with them. I dont know why but I cried at the end, the only time i've ever cried. Fast forward 13 years later and i now have a season ticket :barscarf:

Crikey mate. You cry easily.
Don't worry. There will be more tears to come. Especially when you see where your £1k+ was spent.

5-0 away to Boro last game of the season 1980 after losing 2 Cup finals in a week ,going to Wolves and get a win and the very last game on a Monday night was away to Boro ,which we needed to win to get into Europe !
The loss meant we had NOTHING whatsoever to show for a fantastic season in which I'd managed to get to every game save Fernabache away and a home league match which I dont remember !
I was deeply in debt and I sat on Darlington Station distraught waiting for the Milk train back to London thinking the world had ended !
Never been more depressed in all my life !

My mate Steve pulling that blond with the nice tits right out from under me in our local back in 1995. I was boxed off, she was fit as fuck, I was in, and then he somehow wrangled me out and him in. I will never forgive him for pulling her. Especially when his post-match report confirmed that she, and I quote, "sucked my colon out through my cock - twice" unquote.

Bastard.

Don't know what it's called in England , but in Dublin when kids have a game it usually means no keepers but the last man back becomes keeper. Think we used to call it "fly-goalkeeper"
Anyway in 2001 Liverpool made history by becoming the first team to win the FA Cup with a fly-keeper.
